Ar-We-Va, IKM-Manning, Glidden Ralston, and Coon Rapids Bayard traveled to Audubon for a chance to punch their ticket to the State Track Meet at their state qualifying meet Thursday. In total, 14 events among the five schools at this meet will be competing at the State Track Meet at Drake University, while many more await final times to see if they will be competing next week. For the girls’ teams, Audubon finished in fifth place with 73 points, followed by IKM-Manning in seventh with 55, Glidden Ralston in eighth with 47 points, Ar-We-Va with 28 points in 10th, and Coon Rapids Bayard with 13 points in 14th. LoMa was the girls’ meet champions with 113 points. In the boys’ team standings, Coon Rapids Bayard had a solid night, finishing in third with 76 points. They were followed by IKM-Manning in fourth with 71.50 points, Audubon in sixth with 58, Ar-We-Va in eighth with 47 points, and Glidden Ralston in 13th with 17.50 points. CAM Anita was the boys’ meet champions with 119 points.
Audubon’s girls sprint medley relay team, composed of Mattie Nielsen, Madison Steckler, Abigail Zaiger, and Hannah Thygesen punched their ticket to state track by winning with a time of 1:54.09. Those same individuals also qualified in the distance medley relay with a time of 4:25.60. Thygesen was also able to qualify for her third event for state track, winning the 800-meter run in a time of 2:28.78. The Audubon boys’ shuttle hurdle team will be competing at state track as they won the event with a time of 1:02.61. Stefi Beisswenger put up solid times in the 3000-meter run as she finished second with a time of 11:36.70 and also finished second in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:12.05. The girls 4X200 team, composed of Makayla Schmidt, Abigail Zaiger, Madison Steckler, and Mattie Nielsen, will await Friday’s results as they finished in second place with a time of 1:49.41. Gavin Smith was able to compete well in the hurdle events, winning the 400 hurdles with a winning time of 55.83 and got second in the 110-hurdle event, finishing with a time of 15.54. Finally, the girls 4X400 relay team, composed of Abigail Zaiger, Mattie Nielsen, Madison Steckler, and Hannah Thygesen, were able to qualify for the state track meet with a time of 4:17.90.
For the IKM-Manning Wolves, Hunter Smith, Lane Sams, Reed Hinners, and Jaxon Doyel qualified for state track in the 4X800 relay where they won with a time of 8:53.53. Caden Keller was able to win it all in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:08.18 and punched his ticket to state track. He will wait for Friday’s results to see if he will compete at State Track in the 3200-meter run as he finished second at Audubon with a time of 10:43.75. Lane Sams will also await Friday’s results as he finished second in the 1600 meter run in a time of 4:52.86. The girls 4X400 team, composed of Taylor Beckendorf, Madelyn Snyder, Bianca Cadwell, and Lauren Irlbeck, will await Friday’s times as they finished second at Audubon with a time of 4:22.88.
For Glidden Ralston Vanessa Koehler had a solid day as she will compete at state track by winning the 100-meter dash, with a time of 13.53, the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.71, and the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.47. She also got second in the high jump with a best jump of 5-00.00.
Cooper Kock of Ar-We-Va punched his ticket back to state track as he won the high jump event with a winning jump of 6-03.00 and the 110-hurdle event with a time of 15.36. The Rockets girls’ shuttle hurdle team will await Friday to see if they will compete at State Track as they finished second at Audubon with a time of 1:12.22. Maggie Ragaller was able to secure a second-place finish in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.75 and will await Friday to see if she will run at State Track.
Coon Rapids Bayard had a solid showing with one event win at Audubon and some second-place finishes. The 4X100 team, composed of Easton Hays, Raiden Doty, Omarion Floyd, and Gabe Obert, won with a time of 44.85. Raiden Doty was able to finish in second place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.90 and Lance Clayburg finished second in the shot put with a best throw of 46-04.00. The boys 4X200 team, composed of Easton Hays, Gabe Obert, Raiden Doty, and Omarion Floyd, got second with a time of 1:33.43.
