Boys Tennis Results Monday, May 9th
Audubon and Kuemper At Class 1A Districts
Kuemper advanced to the sub-state round with a third place finish on Monday while Audubon battled hard, with some success in singles play but saw their season come to an end. The Knights did their damage in doubles, where Sam Janssen and Jared Hausman finished in 3rd with a win over teammates Josh Langel and Hans Kraus. Both teams had advanced to the semifinals, helping their team scored 12 points, to finish 3rd. Isaac Jackson won his opening round match in singles for Audubon before falling in the quarterfinals to Clevi Johnson of Atlantic, who finished 4th. The Wheelers finished in 7th place with 2 points.
Sam Janssen and Jared Hausman of Kuemper advanced into the semifinals in doubles with wins in their first two matches, topping Sawyer McClain-Toft and Aidan Griffith of Audubon in the opening round and then defeating William Tallman and Reese Pekny of St Albert. Jansssen and Hausman lost in the semifinals and finished the day 3-1 in matches after winning the 3rd place match. Josh Langel and Hans Kraus of Kuemper also advanced to the semifinals with wins in their first two matches, going 4-0 in sets, including a 7-6 (2) win in their first round match against Daniel McGrath and Cole Pekny of St Albert. Langel and Kraus would finish the day going 2-2 and a 4th place finish.
Isaac Jackson of Audubon was the lone winner in singles for either team. Jackson was dominant in a 6-0, 6-1 win over Garret Hillwick of Harlan.
