Carroll

LoMa 2                   (2 OT)

After a halftime deficit, the Carroll Tigers were able to reboot their system and win via penalty kicks after two overtimes against LoMa. The Panthers got their offense off to a solid start as they scored at the 33-minute mark in the first half, and then with a few seconds remaining to make it a 2-0 lead before halftime.

Back from the break, the Tigers got to work by upping their defensive efforts and getting down the pitch as well. They found the back of the net when Clayton Weitl found Trey Hunter for a goal to cut the deficit down to 2-1 at the 38:41 mark. Not more than 40 seconds later, Weitl was able to get an unassisted goal himself to even up the match at 2-2. Both teams were too strong headed for each other and the match went into overtime, and when both teams didn’t budge, double overtime. After all that, the match was determined via penalty kicks. Both teams went back and forth with penalty kicks, with Weitl scoring the first, then LoMa, then Chase Ragaller for Carroll, until it was a three-all tie. Markus Wagner for Carroll was able to give the Tigers the lead once again, and the match was determined when LoMa missed their final PK to give the Tigers a hard-fought victory. Weitl was an offensive machine, pumping out 15 shots on goal, a goal himself, and an assist. Hunter not only scored but had two shots on goal. Will Schultes had the second most shots on goal by the Tigers with four.

The Tigers improve to 3-8 overall on the season. They return to the pitch on Tuesday, May 10th when they host North Polk.
