Girls Tennis Results Saturday, April 9th
Kuemper At Spencer Tournament
Kuemper had a strong showing in their first tournament and full action of the season. The Knights took second place in both singles and third and seventh in the doubles matches. They combined to go 11-3 in singles matches and 6-8 in doubles matches. Kuemper finished with 21 points, just two points behind Spencer who took second with 23 points while Spirit Lake won the tournament with 31 points.
Jordan Schwabe went 6-1 in number one singles going 39-18 in games while taking 2nd place. Her only loss came against Catherine Straus of Spirit Lake, falling 6-3. She won three of her matches 6-1. Ella Schwarte finished in 2nd place in number two singles, going 5-2 in matches and 37-18 in games. Schwarte was dominant in her wins, picking up a win by love, two wins 6-1 and two 6-2. Her losses came to Trinity Brunsting of LeMars (6-4) and Taylor Schneider of Spirit Lake (6-3).
Sophie Rohe and Keziah Janssen finished 3rd in number one doubles, going 5-2 in matches and 35-28 in games. The pair squeezed out three close wins by 6-5, 6-4 and 6-4 along with winning 6-2 and 6-1. Their two losses were too Haley Berends and Kinsey Schroeder of Spencer (6-2) and Abbie Oleson and Emma Straus of Spirit Lake (6-3). Morgan Muhlbauer and Grace Sperry finished 7th in number two doubles, going 0-7 in matches and 10-42 in games. Their best match was a 6-4 loss to Areceli Lopez and Carolina Garcia of Sioux City West.
