Audubon dominated the 2nd half, holding CAM to 11 points while scoring 28. The Wheelers were outstanding on defense most of the game, after getting a few fundamental things cleaned up that allowed CAM Anita to get open looks early in the game. The Wheelers wanted to use their size advantage inside and did a nice job getting Carson Bauer, Edward Miller and Jackson Deist touches on the block. The Cougars hit 4-3’s in the 1st half, building a 24-21 lead at half. Audubon held them to one made 3 in the 2nd half, while also doing a nice job on the boards, keeping the Cougars from getting any second chance opportunities. The Wheelers had three guys score in double figures and had four players with six or more rebounds.
Carson Bauer scored at the rim twice early as the Wheelers took a 4-2 lead to start the game. Gavin Smith added a free throw and bucket in the lane top stretch the lead to 7-4. CAM Anita responded with a 5-0 run to lead 9-7. They extended the lead to 14-10 before Gavin Smith hit Edward Miller inside and Audubon scored on back-to-back possessions to tie the game at 14 after the 1st quarter. A Cougar 5-0 run to start the 2nd quarter but Jackson Deist scored a bucket and then hit a pair of free throws to pull the Wheelers within 21-18. Carson Bauer then found Edward Miller for 3 and Audubon tied the game at 21. They trailed 24-21 at half.
The second half started with the lead changing hands three times in the three possessions. Jackson Deist put Audubon up 25-24 and then again gave them the lead with a pair of free throws, grabbing a 27-26 lead. Braden Wessel hit Gavin Smith for a bucket, making it 29-26, Carson Bauer scored inside for a 31-26 lead early in the 4th quarter. The Wheelers only scored 8 points in the 3rd quarter but only gave up 2 points to lead 29-26 heading into the final stanza. A Collin Bauer 3, extended the lead to 34-30, Edward Miller then hit Carson Bauer for a 3 and the Wheelers were off and running. Carson made a free throw, Edward Miller scored inside, Carson scored again in the lane, then Collin Bauer hit Edward Miller for 3 and Audubon blew the game open, up 45-30. CAM did pull within 10 but that was as close as they got.
Edward Miller led three Wheelers in double figures with 15 points along with 7 rebounds. Carson Bauer added 12 points and 6 rebounds and Jackson Deist scored 10 points and pulled down 7 rebounds. Gavin Smith finished with a team high 9 rebounds and 4 assists and was really good on defense in the 2nd half, helping to hold Colby Rich scoreless after the break.
The win improves the Wheelers to 7-13 overall. They host IKM-Manning on Tuesday.

Paton Churdan played very well in the 1st quarter, taking a 14-13 lead into the 2nd quarter. The 2nd quarter was where the game changed as Woodbine held the Rockets to 6 points, while scoring 24 points to lead 37-20 at half. Paton Churdan kept fighting in the 2nd half, scoring 20 points in the 4th quarter. The loss drops the Rockets to 1-16 overall and 1-12 in the Rolling Valley Conference.
Bradyn Smith and Shaydon Thurman each scored 10 points to lead the Rockets in scoring. Parker Fitzpatrick added 7 points. Bradyn Smith added a team high 10 rebounds, Seth Thurman and Shaydon Thurman each pulled down 5 rebounds and Joe Carey had a team high 4 assists.
The Rockets head to Ar-We-Va on Friday.

Glidden Ralston continues to grow on the offensive end, picking up assists on 10 of their 12 baskets. They did a nice job of staying aggressive, attacking the basket, getting to the free throw line 18 times. The defense struggled on the perimeter, with Madrid hitting 9-3’s. The Wildcats handled the Tigers pressure, but the pressure sped them up, leading to quick shots and Madrid was able to take advantage. The Wildcats gave up 20 more more points in each of the first-three quarters. Offensively they scored in double figures in the 3rd. Madrid led 20-6 after the 1st quarter and 41-15 at half.
Tyler Brant led the Wildcats with 7 points, Ethan Olberding finished with 6 points and Cale Klocke added 5 points. Emmett Snyder had a team high 6 rebounds.
The loss drops Glidden Ralston to 2-17 overall. They played their fourth game of this week on Friday at CAM Anita.
