Kuemper won on a last second defensive stop against Treynor. The Knights led by one late before a steal by Griffin Glynn led to their first championship birth in the Sean Minnehan led era. Kuemper started off the same way they did against Union as they had Ryan Clair, Dylan Schon and Jack Badding all finding buckets to create a 15-1 lead early. The Cardinals started to take away Clair who had 8 of the 15 to start. Treynor knocked down some shots to make it 13-13 after that 15-1 deficit and trailed 22-13 after 1. The Cardinals than started off the second strong with a run to take the lead 26-24. Treynor held the lead all the way down to the final seconds of the half to lead 32-29 at the half. The Knights only added 7 points with 5 of them coming in the final 30 seconds of the half. Kuemper also only had 3 assists in the first half. In the 3rd, the Knights came out to play but Treynor matched almost everything early before a Ryan Clair free throw made it 41-40. Treynor regained the lead briefly but a Griffin Glynn three put the Knights up 2. Kuemper maintained a lead down to the final seconds where a foul reset the shot clock with .17 to play and another foul led to Teddy Perkins going to the line. Perkins missed both and Treynor called a timeout with 7 seconds to setup a play. The play went south and the ball was stripped down low and Griffin Glynn gained possession as the buzzer sounded Kuemper came out with the 58-57 win and a birth to the State Final where they will meet the winner of Unity Christian and Iowa City Regina on KIK 106.7 at 7 PM Friday.
