Carroll senior class came up huge late as Pella used a 10-0 run to tie the game and a 15-4 run to take their only lead of the game. Trey Tassell kept Carroll with the lead with a three after Pella tied the game at 40. Jared Mohr had a huge layup and free throw to give Carroll the lead back after Pella had grabbed their only lead at 46-45. Mohr put Carroll up 47-46 with 0:31 left. Trey Tassell hit a pair of free throws to seal it before Pella banked in a three to end the game. The Tigers largest lead was 40-30 late in the 3rd but Pella went on a 10-0 run between the end of the 3rd and start of the 4th to tie it. Carroll led by as many as 7 in the 1st half and 9 early in the 3rd quarter. They held Pella to 16.7% from three, with the Dutch hitting only 3-18. Carroll didn’t shoot any better from three, going 3-19 with Jared Mohr hitting two early and Trey Tassell draining his in the 4th. Both teams shot just over 41% from the field with Carroll going 9-11 from the free throw line and Pella making 4-8 from the line. Pella won the rebounding battle 36-27 and outscored Carroll 14-4. Carroll outscored Pella 10-9 on turnovers, creating 14 Dutch turnovers.

Carroll jumped out 5-0 with Lual Tharjiath scoring inside and Jared Mohr hitting a three. Pella fought back with five in a row to tie the game. That would be the only time the game was tied until 40-40 in the 4th quarter. Jared Mohr hit his second – three and Carroll was up 8-5. They extended the lead to 11-5 with Mac Collison making a bucket and a free throw. A nice runner on the baseline by Chase Schable gave Carroll a 13-7 lead but Pella scored the final five-points and trailed 13-12 going to the 2nd quarter. Carroll thought they had scored at the buzzer, but they waved the shot off. Lual Tharjiath had a rebound dunk to start the 2nd quarter and Trey Tassell made a free throw as Carroll kept the lead in the 2nd quarter. Lual Tharjiath was huge on the offensive glass, scoring inside with a pair of baskets. His second one put Carroll up 20-16 and Trey Tassell made it 23-16 with basket and free throw. Jared Mohr kept the lead at seven with a pair of baskets, making it 27-20. Mohr late bucket kept Carroll up by seven at half, leading 31-24.

Carroll pushed the lead to nine in the 3rd with Lual Tharjiath and Mac Collison scoring. Tharjiath second bucket made it 37-28. Both teams struggled to score in the 3rd but Carroll nabbed their largest lead at 40-30 with two free throws from Mac Collison. Jack McGuire hit a three at the buzzer and Carroll led 40-33 going to the 4th. Pella started the 4th quarter with momentum and kept it, scoring the first-seven-points, tying the game at 40. Mac Collison found Trey Tassell for a wing three and Carroll was back up 43-40. Pella scored inside, cutting it to 43-42 but Jared Mohr answered and Carroll was up 45-52. The Dutch grabbed their only lead with back-to-back baskets with Jack McGuire putting them up 46-45. Carroll called timeout and set a play for Jared Mohr. Mohr worked his way down the right side of the lane and scooped a shot between several defenders, putting Carroll up 47-46. He was fouled on the play and made the free throw, making it 48-46. Trey Tassell extended it to 50-46 with a pair of free throws and Pella had one last chance but Carroll stripped the ball away, knocking it out of bounds. Pella banked in a three as time expired, giving Carroll a 50-49 win.

Jared Mohr had a team high 17-points with 7 rebounds while Lual Tharjiath added 12-points with 5 rebounds. Trey Tassell added 9-points and 2 steals and Mack Collison finished with 7-points and 5 assists.

Carroll advances to play Ballard on Wednesday at 5:30 on KIKD 106.7. Ballard rolled past Gilbert 70-40.
