Kuemper advanced to the Class 3A Region 2 Final with a big 4th quarter on Wednesday. They started strong, building an early lead but had to hold in the 4th quarter as the Bulldogs rallied to tie the game at the end of the 3rd quarter. The Knights shot the ball a little better than Van Meter, 36% to 34% but did most of their game from beyond the arc. They only shot 31% from three-point range but made 9-3’s to 5 for the Bulldogs, outscoring them 27 to 15, helping them win by 8. Kuemper led 12-8 at the end of the 1st quarter thanks to a three at the buzzer from Addy Anthofer. The Knights made 6-3’s in the 1st half and clung to a 28-22 lead at half. Van Meter made a charge in the 3rd quarter, outscoring Kuemper 17-11 as the Knights struggled to find their offensive rhythm. That changed in the 4th as Elsa Tiefenthaler led the Knights charge and the defense locked in, holding the Bulldogs to 6-points. The Knights made enough plays down the stretch and won by 8, 53-45.
Elsa Tiefenthaler had a team high 27-points with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Charlotte Hackfort added 8-points and 6 rebounds with Morgan Masching having 7-points and 3 steals. Addy Anthofer finished with 5-points and 5 rebounds.
The Knights are 17-5 on the season and will head to Des Moines Christian on Saturday on KIKD 106.7.

Carroll High wrapped up their season at Forest City on Wednesday. The Tigers came in at 6-16 and beat Humboldt in the first round, while Forest City came in as the top seed and beat Eagle Grove. The Tigers fell behind 7-0 to start the game, then down 9-4, as Chloe Kock scored both baskets. Forest City slowly climbed to take a 17-6 lead after the first quarter. The Tigers got within 10 as Chloe Kock had an and-1. The Indians knocked down back-to-back threes and a layup as they would head into the break up 29-15. The third was when Forest City really started to make their mark as they knocked down threes and got easy buckets to add 24 alone in the quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Indians closed out the game, winning 70-45. Chloe Kock had a big night with 21 points as the Tigers’ season comes to an end at 6-17.
