Girls State Swim Results Saturday, November 11th
It was a strong start to Saturday’s finals in Marshalltown as the 200 Medley Relay team finished 10th overall, nearly matching their time at the State Qualifying Meet, which was a new school record. Carroll followed that up with a 1:50.62. Mai Wellingerhof had a strong start, putting the Tigers in good shape. Emma Myers moved them up in the crowd with an impressive second leg. Amelia Holt kept Carroll moving well as all of the girls said they were nervous until they got in the water, but settled down nicely once they began to swim. Zelda DeMoss finished off the race for Carroll as they took 8th in their heat but only two team in Heat 3 had better times, putting them in 10th overall.
The 200 Free Relay finished 6th in Heat 1, finishing in 1:41.87. The quad had swum a 1:41.44 last Saturday in the qualifying meet, qualifying in 13th place. Emma Myers had a strong start as the opening swimmer. Natalie Kent added a strong second leg with Hailey Burns and Amelia Holt finishing strong.
Emma Myers had a very strong start in the 100 Breast, swimming out of lane 8. She was second coming out of the water off the start and maintained that through the first turn. She battled throughout the race and was in 4th place heading down the final 25-meters, taking 4th place overall in a time of 1:04.64. Myers earned a medal in her final race.
The 400 Free Relay team closed out a strong weekend for Carroll, finishing 6th in their heat in 3:52.85. Mai Wellingerhof had another good start and was followed by Zelda DeMoss with an impressive second leg. Natalie Kent swam in her second relay in an hour, keeping the Tigers in the middle of the pack. Hailey Burns wrapped up an outstanding career as the anchor leg. The Tigers finished 28th overall.
