Kuemper never trailed and the game was never tied but they didn’t salt the game away until a 7-0 run to end the 3rd quarter up 50-35. Dylan Schon was unstoppable in the 1st half with 23-points and Ryan Clair was blocking shots and had a strong rebounding 1st half as the Knights built a 34-20 lead at half. Tanner Badding and Jack Badding were big on defense and the board and Teddy Perkins hit a huge three in the 3rd, giving the Knights the momentum back. Kuemper shot 64% from 2-point range but struggled most of the game from deep, finishing 6-19. They held South Hardin to 4-15 from deep as they looked to attack the rim and kick to the perimeter if the shot wasn’t open in the lane.

Dylan Schon opened the game with a steal and layup, giving Kuemper the lead for good. Ryan Clair made it 4-0 before Sam Benson scored for South Hardin. The Knights went on a 9-1 run with Dylan Schon scoring 7-points during the stretch. After a Tigers three, Ryan Clair scored inside and Dylan Schon hit Kuemper’s first-three. The Knights led 18-10 at the end of the 1st quarter, though it felt like the lead was bigger. South Hardin pulled within 18-12 to start the 2nd quarter but Ryan Clair kept the Knights up comfortably with a bucket. Dylan Schon pushed the lead back to eight at 22-14 and Jack Badding and Dylan Schon went back-to-back to make it a 27-16 lead. The Tigers hit a three to pull within nine but Jordan Tryon answered with a three and Dylan Schon scored at the 1st half buzzer to put Kuemper up 34-20.

Jack Badding had a steal to start the 2nd half and scored to put the Knights up 36-20. Tanner Badding kept the lead in double digits with a three, making it 39-23 Kuemper. A 6-0 run by South Hardin made it a ballgame as they pulled within 41-31. Ryan Clair scored inside but South Hardin answered with a 4-0 run and trailed 43-35 late in the 3rd quarter. Ryan Clair got a bucket inside and Teddy Perkins drilled a three from the wing and Kuemper closed the quarter on a 7-0 run to lead 50-35. The Knights pushed the lead to 20 late and held a 13-18-point lead most of the 4th quarter. Tanner Badding pushed it to 72-52 late but South Hardin scored the final 4-points.

Dylan Schon had a team high 30-points with 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Ryan Clair added 17-points and 10 rebounds with Tanner Badding having 9 rebounds and Jack Badding going for 14-points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals.

The Knights improved to 21-3 and will take on Roland Story on Saturday at Greene County on KIKD 106.7. Roland Story held to beat Garner Hayfield-Ventura 55-52.

Audubon vs Coon Rapids-Bayard – Class 1A District 15

Coon Rapids-Bayard won the district final over Audubon on Tuesday evening. It was a rematch of the first game of the season, where CRB had come out 1-0. The Crusaders started out good defensively and went up 19-2 to start the game before a 6-3 Wheeler run to end the quarter up 22-8. Audubon’s offense came along in the second but CRB added 23 to the Wheelers’ 18 to lead big at the halftime break. The second half was less scoring but the Wheelers just could not get  over the hump to beat the Crusaders in a quarter offensively. CRB would pick up a 74-48 win and advance to a substate final on Saturday against Boyden-Hull at Sioux City on 93.7 KKRL. Boyden Hull knocked off Gehlen Cathollic 55-41.
