ADM At Carroll
ADM 8
Carroll 1
Carroll played what the girls said afterwards was their best match of the season as they battled hard in an 8-1 loss to ADM. The defense was sharp for long stretches but ADM was able to keep pressure on the defense, leading to scoring streaks in each half. ADM didn’t score, though they had chances until 16:47 in the 1st half. That goal gave them momentum as they added two more goals and led 3-0 with 10:37 left in the half. Another goal before half put Carroll behind 4-0 at half. Carroll struggled to keep the ball on their offensive end as ADM was able to run down most of the Tigers passes into ADM territory, limiting Carroll to an Emersyn Walsh shot on goal in the 1st half.
A quick goal by ADM in the 2nd half stretched their lead to 5-0 but the Carroll defensive picked it up again as Jayden Kirsch was really good in the goal, anticipating ADM shots and making a lot of tough stops look routine. Kirsch finished with 22 saves. Carroll held ADM scoreless for nearly 17:00 after that early 2nd half goal but ADM scored two quick ones in just over a minute to stretch the lead to 7-0 with 17:07 remaining. Macy Weber got the Tigers on the board, scoring on a penalty kick. Weber said she knew it would be a tough battle against the ADM goalie but wanted to aim high in the corner. She says they work on penalty kicks in practice all the time, which gave her confidence to score and she did with 12:33 left. ADM added a goal at the horn to win it 8-1.
Carroll plays Kuemper on Monday.
