Carroll was in good shape early in the 2nd quarter, leading on the road 10-9 after Camryn Schable found Hannah Jorgensen for a three. Foul trouble, turnovers and missed shots plagued them the rest of the quarter and Lewis Central closed the half on a 18-1 run to take a 16-point lead at half. The Tigers wanted to pound the ball inside but Josie Ayala and Addison Klocke both picked up 2 fouls in the 1st half and went to the bench. Carroll struggled to score in the paint, so they were forced to penetrate, turning into a few turnovers and missed shots. The Tigers fought back in the 3rd quarter, pulling within 9 after Katelyn Aden hit a pair of free throws. They had a chance to pull within 6 with just under 4:00 remaining in the 3rd but missed an open three and Lewis Central led by 11 heading to the 4th quarter. The Titans scored to open the 4th quarter, leading by 13 but Addison Klocke hit her second three of the game, pulling Carroll within 10. That was the final Carroll points as the Titans closed out the game on a 12-0 run.
Katelyn Aden found Hannah Jorgensen on a nice pass on over the defense as Jorgensen got behind the Titans, tying the game at 2. Both teams struggled to score early, missing open looks from the outside and hurting themselves with turnovers. Lewis Central opened up a 5-point lead, but Carroll responded with a three from Camryn Schable off a pass from Maddison Tunning. Katelyn Aden stole a pass and hit a layup, pulling the Tigers within 9-7 early in the 2nd quarter. Camryn Schable then hit Hannah Jorgensen for a three, one of 4 for Carroll and the Tigers took their only lead at 10-9. A Maddison Tunning free throw stopped a 9-0 run by Lewis Central who then scored 9 straight again to close out the half.
Josie Ayala and Addison Klocke started the 2nd half and helped Carroll settle back in. They outscored the Titans 13-8 in the 3rd but only got as close a 9.
Addison Klocke led Carroll with 8 points along with 5 rebounds. Josie Ayala had a team high 6 rebounds. Katelyn Aden added 6 points and Hannah Jorgensen and Camryn Schable each had 5 points. Carroll went 3-4 from the free throw line. Katelyn Aden added 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
The loss ends Carroll’s season at 10-12. Lewis Central goes to Glenwood on Saturday.
