Kuemper played well most of the game but a cold spell in the 2nd half allowed the Saintes to rally back and pick up a road win in the Hawkeye 10. The Knights led by seven twice in the game but couldn’t hold or build on the lead either time. Frannie Glynn scored to open the game and her free throw put the Knights up 3-0. Catherine Mayhall hit Kora Thomsen for a jump shot and Kuemper won on their way to a 11-4 lead after Mayhall hit Frannie Glynn for back to back baskets. St Albert closed the 1st quarter on a 7-0 run and the game was tied at 11 at the end of the 1st quarter. Akuet Malek found Mayhall to start the 2nd quarter and Kuemper was back up 4 after a bucket by Lauren Boell. St Albert kept making runs in the 1st half and tied the game four times but Kuemper never relinquished the lead. Both teams scored 12 points in the 2nd quarter and the game was tied at half at 23. St Albert was having success inside and dominated the glass on the offensive end.
The 2nd half started similarly to the 1st half as Lauren Boell found Frannie Glynn before Glynn returned the favor with an assist to Boell. Boell then drained a three and Kuemper was up 30-23. They didn’t score the rest of the quarter and St Albert ended the quarter on an 8-0 run, taking their first lead of the game 31-30 heading to the 4th quarter. The Saintes scored the first-four points of the 4th and led 35-30 but Kuemper fought back. Catherine Mayhall passed to Aubrey Hueton for a buck and then Hueton drained a three from the left corner to put Kuemper up 37-35. St Albert responded with a 6-0 run to lead 41-37. Catherine Mayhall hit Frannie Glynn again and Kuemper would pull within 41-40 but that is as close as they got. St Albert didn’t make many free throws early, finishing 9-22 but they got 6 late to close the game on a 9-0 run.
Frannie Glynn led the Kuemper offensive attack with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Catherine Mayhall was solid all-around again with 8 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Aubrey Hueton added 8 points and 6 rebounds. Lauren Boell finished with 7 points and 5 rebounds and Akuet Malek added 7 rebounds and 6 blocks.
The loss drops Kuemper to 3-6 overall and 2-3 in the Hawkeye 10 heading into the break.

Carroll nearly pulled off another big road win in the Raccoon River Conference but a 2nd half and fourth quarter rally fell short as the Tigers had a contested, rushed shot at the buzzer miss. The Tigers started slowly but Addison Klocke played well, keeping them in the game as they trailed 12-11 after the 1st quarter. Klocke finished the quarter with 4 points and 4 offensive rebounds. The defense was sound, though Katleyn Lappe finished with 18 points. The Tigers kept battling, trailing by 3 entering the 2nd half. The lead grew to 7 at the end of the 3rd quarter as Carroll shot just 3-9 from the free throw line. They shot better from the field, hitting 42.6% from the field, but were 4-13 from three. Hannah Jorgensen, Josie Ayala and Madison Tunning helped rally the team in the 4th quarter as Carroll pulled within one with 0:07 left. They were able to get a look but it was rushed and it didn’t fall as Bondurant Farrar held on for their 5th win of the season.
Hannah Jorgensen had a team high 10 points, Madison Tunning and Josie Ayala each finished with 8 points, with Tunning adding a team high 5 assists. Katelyn Aden led the Tigers with 6 rebounds, Tunning and Addison Klocke added 5 rebounds.
The loss drops Carroll to 4-4 overall and 1-4 in the Raccoon River Conference.

East Sac picked up a much needed conference win Tuesday night as they edged past Southeast Valley.
The Raiders got off to a good start against a Jaguar defense that worked to clutter up the lane and make it difficult for East Sac to drive to the basket to score. That was no issue for Jen Aschinger who drained two three pointers and got a couple of long field goals to give her 10 points in the first quarter alone. East Sac took a 13-9 lead into the second quarter. In the next quarter, with the three pointer working so far, the Raiders continued to create points from behind the arc. Mary Bontrager and Makenna Steiger both drained three pointers for the Raiders and brought East Sac to a 27-16 lead at halftime. Aschinger led the team at that time with 12 points.
Southeast Valley started to come back in the third quarter by continuing to pressure East Sac in the paint and cause turnovers. The Jaguars got as close as two points from tying up the game, but East Sac continued to shoot lights out from behind the arc. Carly Fischer had a good quarter as she grabbed two three pointers to keep the Raiders ahead 38-32 going into the fourth quarter. East Sac and Southeast Valley both had a lengthy period of time where both teams were unable to score in the fourth quarter, but East Sac was able to wake up their offense and get ahead late. Bontrager and Steiger again drained three pointers as Bontrager had a strong seven point fourth quarter to lead East Sac to victory with a final score of 54-43. Head Coach Jason Phillips told Carroll Broadcasting that he was happy to see the scoring that his girls created in this game, but looks forward to improving their game once the holiday break is over.
East Sac improves to 2-6 overall on the season. Coming back from the holiday break, the Raiders will be on the road on Friday, January 7th to take on Emmetsburg.

The Titans dominated what looked like a big matchup on paper as both teams entered the game with one loss. South Central Calhoun jumped out to a 21-2 lead after the 1st quarter, helping them improve to 8-1 on the season as they head into the break. South Central Calhoun held MVAOCOU to single digits in three quarters and held them to 5 points or less in two of the quarters. They finished with 18 steals and only 13 turnovers. Couple that with a great night at the free throw line and that leads to a 25 point win. The Titans hit 23-32 from the free throw line with Riley Batta going 11-14 from the line, Chloe Judisch was 4-4 and Kylee Schleisman ended 4-6. South Central Calhoun led 31-10 at the end of the 1st half and were up 47-25 heading to the final quarter.
Riley Batta continues her outstanding start to the season with 25 points and 8 rebounds. Kylee Schleisman finished with 11 points and 3 steals. Chloe Judisch nearly had a double-double with 8 points and 7 rebounds off the bench. Emma Anderson finished with 5 steals and Addisyn Korleski added 3 steals and 2 blocks.
The Titans head to the break 8-1 overall and 2-1 in the Twin Lakes Conference, picking up a nice bounce back win after their loss to Emmetsburg on Friday.

IKM-Manning picked up their second win of the season and did it in convincing fashion. The Wolves defense clamped down, holding Missouri Valley to 23.9% from shooting and 1-11 from three point range. On the other side of the floor IKM-Manning was able to work inside out. Bianca Cadwell and Mabel Langel had strong offensive performances, helping the guards get clean looks. Macie Doyel, Taylor Ferneding and Bailee Germer all hit from three point range. The Wolves led 19-4 after the 1st quarter and 34-15 at half. The defense held the Big Red to six points or less in three of the four quarters. Offensively IKM-Manning scored 13-19 points in all four quarters.
Macie Doyel led three players in double figures with 17 points, hitting 3-4 from three point range. Bianca Cadwell had 12 points and 5 rebounds. Mabel Lange finished with 14 points, 4 steals and 5 rebounds. Taylor Ferneding just missed double figures with 9 points, 5 rebounds and 5 steals. Ferneding added a team high 3 assists. Morgan Hanson had 7 rebounds.

Ar-We-Va heads in to the break with a new confidence after things came together for them in their best performance of the season. The Rockets nabbed their first win of the season and did it in convincing fashion, holding West Harrison scoreless in the 2nd quarter and not allowing double digit points in any quarter. Ar-We-Va built a 21-4 lead at half outscoring the Hawkeyes 13-0 in the 2nd quarter. The Rockets handled the ball well and forced turnovers, coming away with 14 steals. They rebounded the ball well with four players having 5 or more and the team pulling down 32 total. Six different players scored in the win with two players in double figures and two more near double figures.
Maggie Ragaller led the team with 12 points and 8 rebounds and tied for the team lead with 4 assists. Delaney Schurke gave them a second player in double figures with 10 points to go with 3 steals. Timberlen Koch had a very nice all around game with 7 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 steals. Jamie Hausman added 6 points and 7 rebounds and Sophie Jackson pulled down 7 rebounds.

The game began to slip away in the 3rd as Glidden Ralston scored 6 points and gave up 14.

Audubon dropped their second straight, letting one slip away in the 2nd half. The Wheelers were steady in the 1st half, leading most of the way, up 27-18 at half. LoMa came out the 2nd half with a new intensity, holding the Wheelers to 5 points. That got things rolling, scoring 22 points to lead 40-32. Audubon tried to rally in the 4th but it came up short.
The Wheelers had two players in double figures with Aleah Hermansen leading the way with 16 points, Jaci Christensen added 11 points. Sieanna Albertsen hit a pair of threes and finished with 8 points.
The loss drops Audubon to 5-3 overall and 2-2 in the Western Iowa Conference.
