Brincks Exteriors Sports Report: Audubon, IKM-Manning, East Sac, and SCC Girls Cross Country Teams Compete in State Qualifying Meets Thursday

Girls Cross Country Results for Thursday, October 21st

Audubon and IKM-Manning at Panorama

Area athletes from Audubon and IKM-Manning had a successful day at their state qualifying meet where both teams had one individual punch their ticket to the state cross country meet next week in Fort Dodge.

IKM-Manning’s Emily Albertsen led the Wolves with a sixth place finish with a time of 21:37 and captured a spot in the state cross country meet. IKM-Manning’s other runners included Regan Garrison who finished inside the top 25 in 21st place with a time of 22:53, Julianna Stribe finishing in the top 50 in 45th place with a time of 26:00, and Kaitlyn Spoelstra and Maddy Snyder finishing close to each other just outside the top 50. As a team, the Wolves finished in eighth place in the standings.

Audubon’s Stefi Beisswenger had the best finish among our local female athletes with a fifth place finish with a time of 21:32, meaning she also will be competing at Fort Dodge at the state cross country meet. Other Wheelers who had good times included Hannah Thygesen who finished 16th overall with a time of 22:10 and Grace Slater who finished just outside the top 25 in 26th place with a time of 22:54. The Wheelers did not have a team score due to only having four runners competing.

LoMa and ACGC secured their spots at the state cross country meet with the top two finishes in the team standings. Beisswenger and Albertsen will be competing at the Lakeside Municipal Golf Course in Fort Dodge for the 2021 state cross country meet. Both girls’ races will start at 2:30 PM.

East Sac and South Central Calhoun at SE Valley

East Sac and South Central Calhoun both competed in Gowrie for their state qualifying meet with the Raiders sending one of their runners to state and the Titans finishing with strong performances overall.

Emma Schroeder for the Raiders was able to punch her ticket to the state cross country meet in Fort Dodge next week with a 10th place finish with a time of 20:37.16. Amalie Kroyer for East Sac had a top 50 finish as she grabbed a 45th place finish with a time of 23:19.63. Other East Sac finishes included Kortni Thomsen in 67th, Cora Mahler in 88th and Rachel King in 89th. As a team, the Raiders finished 11th in the standings.

For South Central Calhoun, Brenna Patterson was one placement away from a state meet berth. She had to compete closely in the end with Taylor Stahl of Grundy Center/Gladbrook-Reinbeck and Brooklyn Fryar of Van Meter for 14th, 15th, and 16th place, but she ended up with a 16th place finish with a strong time of 21:09.94. Other performances from South Central Calhoun included Alexia Nelson who finished in 32nd place with a time of 22:30.33. Adlen Wheelock and Evelyn Kramer finished within a few seconds of each other in 52nd and 55th place respectively. As a team, the Titans finished seventh overall in the standings. Clarinda, Des Moines Christian, and Van Meter all captured top three spots at this meet and thus qualified for the state meet.

Schroeder will be competing at the Lakeside Municipal Golf Course in Fort Dodge on Saturday, October 30th at 10:30 AM.
