Carroll qualified in seven events for the state swimming meet with strong performances at Waukee Saturday afternoon.
Qualifying for four events on the day was Jenna Currier, who helped two relay teams to victory as the anchor. She was part of the 200 free relay, along with Emma Myers, Hailey Burns, and Ellie Beagle, that finished in second place with a time of 1:39.97, and the 400 free relay, along with Amelia Holt, Ellie Beagle, and Hailey Burns, who finished in third place with a final time of 3:44.02. Currier also won her two individual events, the 50 free and the 100 fly, giving her a chance to compete individually at the state meet.
The 200 medley relay team, composed of Sophia Polking, Ashley Beagle, Myers, and Holt, was able to qualify for the state meet with a third place finish in a time of 1:53.49. Myers was also able to qualify for the state meet in two individual events; those events included the 200 IM, where she finished in fourth place with a time of 2:13.12, and the 100 breaststroke, finishing in second place with a time of 1:05.64, a time good enough to set a new school record.
As a team, Carroll finished third overall in the team standings behind Valley and meet winner Waukee. The state swim meet is scheduled for Friday November 12th with prelims at 5 p.m. and Saturday November 12th for the finals at noon.
