Kuemper suffered a tough loss in their home and season opener, leading most of the way in a 5-4 loss to the Trojans. The Knights led 4-3 after the number one doubles match and had a chance to clinch the win, leading in one of the final doubles matches before Atlantic rallied. The match was tied 3-3 after singles with Kuemper earning win in the number one through three matches. Charlotte Schwabe was impressive in number one singles, picking up a 8-3 win. Bella Lu in number two singles and Regan Garringer in number three singles both fought hard to win 8-5. Atlantic picked up three wins, including an 9-7 win by Addie Freund in number 4 singles. Kuemper was 40-36 in singles games. Charlotte Schwabe and Bella Lu teamed up to win number one doubles, earning a dominant 8-1 win. Kuemper finished 19-18 in doubles games, going 59-54 in games overall. Atlantic rallied with Dylin Ball and Taryn O’Brien to win number three doubles 9-8 (9-7) to clinch the team win.
The Knights had a nice bounce back win in their second match of the day, edging past Lewis Central 5-4. They went 3-3 in singles before earning a pair of comfortable wins in doubles. The Knights were 39-37 in singles games and 18-11 in doubles to end the match 57-48. Charlotte Schwabe, Bella Lu and Regan Garringer completed undefeated days in singles with Schwabe cruising to a 8-2 win and Garringer dominating in an 8-3 win. Lu came up clutch to win 9-7, helping the Knights split singles for the second straight match. Charlotte Schwabe and Bella Lu were impressive as a doubles team, going 2-0 on the day with an 8-0 win over Lewis Central. They went 16-1 in games in their two matches combined. Regan Garringer and Priscila Linares clinched the win for Kuemper with a 8-3 win in number three doubles.
The Knights are 1-1 in matches this season and will head to St Edmond on Thursday.
