Game 2

Kuemper at Creston

Kuemper      1

Creston         0

Kuemper earned a split of the doubleheader with a tremendous pitching performance from Ryan Sundrup, his second great performance on the hill in the last week. The offense did enough, scoring in the 3rd inning after stranding a pair of runners on base in the 1st. Sundrup had to come up big in the bottom of the 1st with Creston getting runners on 1st and 3rd. He induced a line drive to 3rd base for the final out. Aaron McDermott doubled to start the 3rd for Kuemper and scored on a single by Mason Knerl. The Knights left two runners on base but it would all they need. They had a chance to add to their lead in the 5th with Mason Knerl doubling with 1-out but the Knights couldn’t string any hits against Creston, who was pitching well with Tanner Ray. Sundrup got out of 2nd and 3rd with 1-out situation in the 3rd with a ground ball to 1st base and a ground ball to shortstop. Creston had the tying run at 2nd in the 6th but a pop-up to the pitcher ended the threat.

Ryan Sundrup was terrific on the hill, going 7 innings, allowing 3 hits and striking out 5. Mason Knerl had  a pair of hits with a double and drove in an RBI. Aaron McDermott doubled and scored a run.

Kuemper moves to 12-9 and will head to Harlan on Thursday.
