Carroll and Kuemper At Ogden Tournament

The game was never in doubt for Kuemper after scoring 12-runs in the 1st inning but they had to score once in the bottom of the 4th to end the game early after Greene County rallied in the top of the 4th. The Knights finished with 11 hits but were able to take advantage of 8 walks and 5 hit-by-pitches. Addison Schon went deep twice in the 1st inning.

Chloe Gehling walked to leadoff for Kuemper at the plate, then stole 2nd and 3rd, setting herself up to score on a sacrifice by Ellee Schreck. Addison Schon followed with a solo home run, Claire Venner and Kyla Wiskus both singled, mixed in with a fielder’s choice, two walks and a hit-by-pitch and eight of the Knights first-nine batters scored. Ellee Schreck singled with 2-outs to keep the rally going, driving in a pair of runs and Addison Schon hit a 2-run home run, making it 10-1. Lauren Gehling singled to end the scoring, driving in Claire Venner and Kaylie Wolterman. The Knights added a run in the 2nd and led 13-4 going to the bottom 3rd. Kyla Wiskus started the rally with a single, Chloe Gehling, Claire Venner and Kaylie Wolterman all drove in a run and Kuemper scored 7-runs to lead 20-4. Greene County had a couple hits, took advantage of  Kuemper error and four walks in the 4th to pull within 20-11. Morgan Masching ended the game in the bottom of the 4th, getting hit-by-pitch, stealing 2nd and taking 3rd and home on wild pitches.

Addison Schon had a pair of home runs for the Knights, driving in 3 RBI and scoring twice. Ellee Schreck added 3 RBI with Lauren Gehling finishing with a pair of hits and 4 RBI. Chloe Gehling drove in 2 runs as did Kyla Wiskus, who added a pair of hits. Abrey Pudenz scored 3 times and Morgan Masching scored twice.

Kuemper fell to Gilbert in their other game on Saturday, allowing 7-runs in the 2nd inning and 2 more in the 5th to put the Tigers ahead 10-0. Lauren Gehling had the Knights only hit in the game, singling to lead off the 3rd inning. She was thrown out trying to advance to 2nd base.

The Knights are 3-3 heading into a varsity doubleheader at Clarinda on Monday.

Carroll Vs SE Valley

Brylee Mrla tripled and scored on a ground out by Emma Danner in the top of the 4th at Carroll pulled within 4-1 against SE Valley. The Jaguars responded with 5-runs in the bottom of the 4th, held Carroll scoreless in the 5th and the time limit expired for the game, giving SE Valley a 9-1 win. The Jaguars jumped out 4-0 with a 4-run 1st inning but Carroll settled in, shutting them down until the bottom 4th. Brylee Mrla reached base on both plate appearances for the Tigers in the game, walking in the 1st inning and stealing 2nd before being stranded there. Kyla Owen added a single in the 3rd for the Tigers other baserunner.

Brylee Mrla and Kyla Owen had the Tigers two hits with Mrla scoring a run and tripling and Emma Danner adding an RBI.

Carroll Vs Grand View Christian

Carroll answered a 4-run top of the 1st by Grand View Christian with 3-runs of their own. The Tigers put runners on base in every inning, but couldn’t string together enough hits after the 1st inning and didn’t  score the rest of the game. Grand View Christian added 4-runs in the 2nd and 4 more in the 3rd to pull away. Scoring their final three runs in the 5th inning to end the game.

Tahlia Hahn and Kyra Hosenfelt walked start the 1st for Carroll. Hostenfelt scored on a base hit by Brylee Mrla, putting the Tigers on the board. Mrla stole home later in the inning with Bailey Bowman walking and moving to 3rd on a stolen base. Cayla Cummings doubled to score Bowman and Carroll had pulled within 4-3. They had a chance to score in the 2nd inning with Emma Danner walking and Kyla Owen singling, Tahlia Hahn walked to load the bases but Danner was thrown out at  home before a single by Kyra Hosenfelt to load the bases. Grand View Christian got out of trouble with a strikeout and a groundout. Bailey Bowman walked to start the 3rd inning and Teagan McCool singled as Carroll threatened to score again. Emma Danner was hit-by-pitch but Carroll popped out to the pitcher to end the threat. Carroll threatened again in the 4th with Brylee Mrla singling and Audrey Huegerich doubling but they were stranded when the inning ended.

Brylee Mrla led the Tigers with a pair of hits along with scoring a run. Cayla Cummings doubled driving in a run, Kyra Hosenfelt singled, scored a run and drove in a run, Audrey Huegerich doubled, Bailey Bowman scored and Teagan McCool had a base hit.

Carroll is 0-4 heading into a home varsity doubleheader with Ballard on Monday.
