The Kuemper Knights keep their postseason run alive as they knock off West Marshall on Tuesday. With the win, the Knights will advance to the Substate Final, which is coming up on Saturday. Kuemper struggled to find a rhythm in the first half offensively, as they missed open shots early in the game. The Knights went the first three minutes of the game without a basket. They would jump out to an 8-4 lead and would lead 17-6 going to the second quarter. Kuemper found more success on the offensive end in the second quarter, as they scored 23 points. The Knights never trailed in the first half as they would grow their lead to 40-17 at the half.
Kuemper was good defensively in the ball game, as they were able to rebound the basketball and came away with multiple steals. The Knights would continue to grow their lead in the second half. They outscored West Marshall 22-12 in the third quarter to grow their lead. Kuemper would take a 62-29 going to the fourth quarter. West Marshall outscored Kuemper in the fourth quarter, but the Knights went on to win 76-47.
Kuemper scored 44 bench points in the game. The Knights also had two players score in double digits. Dylan Schon led the Knights in scoring with 22 points. Schon also added three assists and three steals. Griffin Glynn added 20 points off the bench in the win. Ryan Clair Chipped in eight points and seven rebounds. With the win, Kuemper moves to 22-1. The Knights are back in action on Saturday against Union at Drake University in Des Moines.

Coon Rapids Bayard played one of their best games of the season, earning a convincing win on Tuesday to advance to the SubState Final on Saturday. The game was tight through the 1st quarter as both teams were trying to get a sense of what each others wanted to do. The Crusaders led 15-11, having taken a 13-11 lead with about 2:00 left in the quarter, closing the quarter on a 6-0 run. The Crusaders upped the defensive intensity to start the 2nd quarter, extending their lead with an 8-0 run. They were able to catch Mount Ayr in a substitution that allowed them to force some turnovers with their press. The defense was outstanding all game, led by Parker Hays who had a tremendous defensive effort against Jackson Ruggles. The Coon Rapids Bayard offense was just as good, sharing the basketball with great ball movement. They had four players finish in double figures, making them tough for the Raiders to defend. Their ball movement allowed them to hit some big shots from deep. Caden Oswald went 2-5 from three and Bryce Lewis added three from deep in big situations. Coon Rapids Bayard pushed their lead to 33-16 at half. The Crusaders kept the pressure up in the 3rd, getting the game into continuous clock, outscoring Mount Ayr 23-5 in the 3rd. The defense held Mount Ayr to 10 points combined in the 2nd and 3rd quarters.
Cal Heydon was a monster inside with 21 points and 20 rebounds, leading four Crusaders in double figures. Caden Oswald added 18 points and 8 assists, Ty Heydon had 13 points and 7 rebounds and Bryce Lewis chipped in with 11 points and 5 assists. Parker Hays was fantastic on defense and had 4 assists on the offensive end.
Coon Rapids Bayard moves to 22-2 overall and will travel to Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln on Saturday to play Woodbine on KIKD 106.7.

Things got away from IKM-Manning early on Tuesday as ACGC hit their first-four shots from 3 and built a 9-0 lead. The Wolves got on the board but the Chargers responded with a 13-0 run and led 22-1 late in the 1st quarter. They chipped away in the 1st quarter, pulling within 25-11 but ACGC answered with a 14-6 run to blow the game back open. IKM-Manning recovered in the 2nd half, but the game was continuous clock twenty seconds into the 3rd quarter. The Wolves outscored ACGC 39-32 in the 2nd half.
Jathan South and Joe Crawford both hit threes early as ACGC went up 9-0. Ben Ramsey got the Wolves on the board with a free throw, making it 9-1 but IKM-Manning didn’t score again until they trailed 22-1. Ben Ramsey hit a three helping the Wolves pull within 23-8 as Ramsey scored the Wolves first-eight points. Wyatt Danner hit a three early in the 2nd quarter, pulling IKM-Manning within 25-11 but ACGC quickly responded, turning steals and defensive rebounds into quick points and dominating the glass. They stayed hot from deep with Joe Crawford scoring 19 points on five-threes in the 1st half. Jathan South added 16 points and Noah Kadding had 10 points. The Wolves trailed 51-17 at half with Ben Ramsey with 14 points and Wyatt Danner the other three.
ACGC scored the first-four points of the 2nd half, making the game continuous clock. The Wolves played better in the 2nd half, sharing the basketball and moving the ball around for better shots. Ben Ramsey cut the deficit to 57-24 with a three and a two point shot and Isaac Blankman hit a three followed by a bucket from Luke Janssen as the Wolves pulled within 60-29. Another Janssen basket made it 67-38 but the Wolves never got closer than 76-52 on a Ben Ramsey three.
Ben Ramsey led the Wolves with 32 points with Brock Kusel and Luke Janssen each scoring 6 points. Ashton Ahrenholtz worked hard on the glass, finishing with 7 rebounds.
The Wolves finish the season 12-12.
