The Exira-EHK Spartans picked up a come-from-behind win, knocking off a good MVAOCOU team to keep their season alive. The Spartans fell behind by double-digits in the first half and had to chip away at the lead. The first lead of Exira-EHK came in the fourth quarter. MVAOCOU jumped out to a 17-6 lead in the first quarter. The Spartans struggled on offense in the first half, managing only 20 points. Exira-EHK would cut into the Rams lead in the second quarter as they trailed 27-20 at the half. Exira-EHK came out of the locker room energized as they opened the third quarter on a 4-0 run. The Spartans outscored MVAOCOU 13-12 in the quarter. Exira-EHK would cut the lead in the 4th quarter to 44-42. Taryn Petersen was excellent down the stretch of the game, knocking down two free throws and making the go-ahead layup with eight seconds left. The Spartans would go on to win 49-48, coming back from down double-digits.

Exira-EHK had two players score in double figures. Taryn Petersen was great on the offensive end, finishing with a team-high 28 points. Jaelynn Petersen chipped in 10 points for the Spartans. Harlee Fahn and Kadence Sporrer each added six points. With the win, Exira-EHK moves to 18-5. The Spartans are back in action on Wednesday against Treynor at Underwood.

The Coon Rapids-Bayard Crusaders started slow on the offensive end but came away with a double-overtime victory at home Friday. CRB played great defense, forcing a bunch of turnovers in the game. St. Edmond would hold on to a 4-3 lead going to the second quarter. CRB would pick up the pace offensively in the second quarter as they added 14 points. They outscored St. Edmond’s 14-8 in the quarter. The Crusaders would lead 17-12 at the half. Coming out of the locker room, St. Edmond would tie the game up in the quarter. The Gaels outscored CRB 12-7 in the third quarter. Both teams scored 11 points in the fourth as the game would head to overtime tied at 35-35. The defenses shined in the first overtime as both teams managed five points, and the game would go to double overtime tied at 40-40. CRB built their lead in the second overtime by outscoring St. Edmond 10-2. The Crusades would go on to pick up the hard-fought win at 50-42.

The Crusaders had two players score in double-digits. Anna Hart recorded a double-double with 23 points and 10 steals in the win. Ella Heithoff had a great game, adding 14 points and six rebounds. Malia Clayburg pulled down 10 rebounds and chipped in eight points for CRB. With the win, CRB moved to 18-4. The Crusaders are back in action on Wednesday against Newell-Fonda in Fort Dodge.

IKM-Manning at Hinton

The IKM-Manning Wolves’ season ended with a road loss to number three Hinton. The Wolves struggled offensively, as they had double-digit turnovers in the game. IKM-Manning was held under double digits in all four quarters. The Wolves would fall down 28-2 at the end of the first quarter and 43-6 at the half. The Wolves found more scoring in the second half, but it was too late, as Hinton would go on to win 76-21. Anna Stangl had a team-high nine points, and Keagan Eischeid had eight points. With the loss, IKM-Manning ends their season 11-12.
