Carroll At Denison Schleswig

Carroll 71

Denison Schleswig 32

The defense set the tempo of the game for Carroll in the 1st quarter, getting steals and helping them get transition buckets. As good as the defense was in the 1st quarter, it was better in the 2nd half. Carroll held the Monarchs to four points in the 2nd half as they put the game out of reach and into continuous clock. They shared the ball very well, making the extra pass to get a better shot. That helped them shoot the ball well, especially from the outside.

Stone Sibenaller gave Carroll the lead for good with a bucket early, making 4-3. Carter Essick scored first but Denison Schleswig hit a three to take their only lead of the game. A 14-0 run by Carroll put them in control as the defense created turnovers and held the Monarchs to one shot. The Tigers transitioned well from defense to offense, getting buckets from Jared Mohr, Mac Collison, Stone Sibenaller and a three from Trey Tassell made it 16-3. Carroll maintained the lead in double digits the rest of the quarter and led 25-14 heading into the 2nd quarter. An 8-0 run to start the 2nd quarter pushed the lead to 33-14. Carroll had nice balance during the run, getting points from Mac Collison, Jared Mohr, Stone Sibenaller and Noah Hinners. The Monarchs made a little run, pulling within 36-23 but Miles Nuzback broke it and Carroll added baskets from Trey Tassell and another from Nuzback and led 41-23. Carroll took a 45-28 lead into the halftime.

A pair of threes from Trey Tassell helped Carroll extend the lead to start the 3rd quarter. The Tigers defense was dominant as they subbed frequently getting a lot of players time on the floor. They held Denison Schleswig to 1 point in the 3rd and led 63-29 going into the 4th quarter. Carroll pushed the game into continuous clock early in the 4th quarter. They held Denison Schleswig to three points in the 4th quarter.

Miles Nuzback and Trey Tassell both had 16 points to lead Carroll with Jared Mohr adding 14 points and Stone Sibenaller scoring 8 points. Mac Collison and Trey Tassell both added 3 steals.

Carroll moves to 8-10 overall and will head to North Polk on Tuesday.
