Boys Basketball Results Saturday, January 11th 

Kuemper 79

Kuemper did what they have done to most of the teams they have faced this season. Their pressure defense gave them 17 steals and they turn defense into offense as well as anyone. Kuemper gets out quick on defense rebounds, many times getting easy buckets on the other end. They didn’t shoot from deep in the 1st half, able to get to the rim, building a 24-9 lead at the end of the 1st quarter and 46-14 at half. The Knights started draining 3’s in the 3rd quarter, pushing the game into continuous clock. East Sac kept battling all game, playing hard until the final buzzer and able to get some things going in the 2nd half. The Raiders outscored the Knights 17-14 in the 4th quarter.

Ryan Clair paced the Knights with 21 points with Brock Badding finishing with 11 points, Dylan Schon had 8 points and Griffin Glynn had 7 points and 7 rebounds. Carson Kanne dished out 7 assists and Tregan Beiter had 3 steals with Jack Badding leading the Knights with 5 steals, dishing out 5 assists to go with 7 points.

Sam Julin led the Raiders with 13 points with Zach Jacobsen adding 9 points and Jordan Ulmer had 7 points.

Kuemper improves to  10-1 overall and will host Denison Schleswig on Tuesday. East Sac falls to 3-6 overall and will head to Storm Lake St Mary’s on Friday.

Ar-We-Va At Woodbury Central

Ar-We-Va had another good defensive performance against a balanced offensive Woodbury Central. The guys off the Rockets bench gave them really good minutes, doing a lot of little things that helped them earn the win. Woodbury central made a run in the 4th quarter but Ar-We-Va held them off. Ar-We-Va built a big early lead, jumping out 18-9 at the end of the 1st quarter and 33-23 at half. They extended the lead in the 3rd but were outscored 21-13 in the final stanza.

Blayne Smith had a big game with 25 points and 10 rebounds while Wyatt Ragaller added 12 points and 5 steals. Wade Ragaller and Derek Thomsen both had 6 points.

The win improves Ar-We-Va to 8-2, their fourth straight win as they head to Coon Rapids Bayard on Tuesday for a huge conference matchup.
