Kuemper hosted the top ranked team in Class 4A to open the season on Monday, falling to the Crusaders 73-29. The Knights offense struggled against the pressure of the Crusaders, hitting 34% from the field and going 0-8 from beyond the arc. The offense found success inside, shooting just under 50% from inside the arc. Heelan shot the ball well, hitting 10-25 from beyond the arc, finishing the game at 50.9% from the field. Heelan only turned the ball over twice and forced Kuemper into 20 turnovers, giving them many more opportunities to score. Bishop Heelan jumped out 24-2 at the end of the 1st quarter and led 50-14 at half. Kuemper held them to 5-points in the 3rd quarter, winning the quarter 6-5.
Elsa Tiefenthaler had a team high 8-points with Karsyn Overmohle adding 6-points and a team high 5 rebounds. Charlotte Hackfort added 4-points.
The Knights open the season 0-1 and will head to Coon Rapids Bayard on Tuesday on 93.7 KKRL.

IKM-Manning had a pair of girls in double figures but dropped their season opener on the road as ACGC scores in double figures in three of the four quarters on their way to a 73-49 win. The Wolves offense played well, scoring in double figures in all four quarters, but the Wolves turned the ball over 48 times, leading to easy baskets for the Chargers, which shot over 62% from inside the arc and hit 49.2% from the field for the game. IKM-Manning trailed 26-14 at the end of the 1st quarter and was down 45-24 at half.
Anna Stangl had a team high 18-points along with 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals while Keagan Eischeid had a nifty double-double in her varsity debut, scoring 10-points to go with 11 rebounds. Taylor Beckendorf added 6-points and 5 rebounds and Laynie Gawley scored 6-points.
The Wolves open the season 0-1 and will head to Tri Center on December 3rd.

Paton Churdan struggled offensively in the 1st half, falling behind 44-17 at half in their season opener against Orient Macksburg. The Rockets found some rhythm in the 2nd quarter, scoring 11-points and used that to help rally in the 3rd quarter, outsourcing the Bulldogs 17-6. Kaliyah Minnihan had a strong offensive game for Paton Churdan, scoring 24-points. She was strong inside, getting to the free throw line and making shots in the paint. Ella Tasler added 10-points in the loss with Avan Minnehan finishing with 5-points.
The Rockets opened the season 0-1 and will host Boyer Valley on Tuesday, December 3rd.
