Ar-We-Va At Exira-EHK

Exira-EHK took control of the first-two sets with service runs, opening leads midway through both sets. Ar-We-Va hung close before struggles in serve receive put them in a hole they couldn’t recover from. Both sets had two lead changes early with set one having four ties and set two being tied three times. The Spartans led set one 9-8 before closing out the set on a 16-3 run with service runs by Mayne Jorgensen and Riley Miller. They led set two 9-8 and went on another service run with Riley Miller, closing out the set 16-6 to win it.

Ar-We-Va took a 2-1 lead in set one as the match went back and forth early before Exira-EHK took a 5-4 lead and never trailed again. The Rockets tied the set at 6 but Jaelynn Petersen and Taryn Petersen kept the Spartans with the lead. Annalee Wittrock kept the Rockets close with a kill, pulling them within 9-8. Taryn Petersen had a kill to give Exira-EHK at the service line and Mayne Jorgensen had three straight aces to give them all the momentum. Riley Miller added three aces late in the set, helping them score 16 of the final 19-points.

Exira-EHK scored the first-three points in the 2nd set but Ar-We-Va answered with four in a row with Gabrielle Hundling tying it at 3 with a kill. Ar-We-Va went up 4-3 but a kill from Jaelynn Petersen tied it at 4 and Exira-EHK went back up on an ace from Riley Miller. The Spartans got back-to-back kills but Ar-We-Va hung tough, down 9-8. Mayne Jorgsensen had a kill, followed by an ace from Brooklyn Flathers and Jorgensen added a kill as the Spartans pulled away to win 25-14. Riley Miller, Taryn Petersen and Jaelynn Petersen helped Exira-EHK build a 4-0 lead in set three and the Spartans never trailed. Ar-We-Va pulled within 6-3 on an ace from Jazmine Molina. Exira-EHK stretched the lead back to 10-4 but Ar-We-Va kept fighting, pulling within 12-10 with Annalee Wittrock having a pair of aces in the run. Taryn Petersen put the Spartans back in control with a kill and they went on to win 25-18, finishing the sweep.

Jaelynn Petersen led the Spartans with 11 kills with Taryn Petersen added 8 kills. The Spartans serve was the difference, with 19 aces, led by 6 from Taryn Petersen, 4 from Riley Miller and 3 from both Jaelynn Petersen and Mayne Jorgensen. Riley Miller had a team high 12 assists with Brooklyn Flathers having 11 assists. Taryn Petersen had a team high 6 digs.

Emma Leiting paced Ar-We-Va with 6 digs with Morgan Berg adding 5 digs. Amber Ragaller added 4 assists with 3 digs and Jazmine Molina and Annalee Wittrock both had 2 aces.

Exira-EHK improves to 8-3 overall and 3-1 in the Rolling Valley as they host Boyer Valley on Tuesday. Ar-We-Va falls to 0-16 overall and 0-4 in the Rolling Valley as they head to Glidden Ralston on Tuesday.

East Sac earned a huge win in the Twin Lakes Conference, topping Emmetsburg in four sets. The Raiders jumped out 10-5 in set one with a 5-0 run, led by three aces from Addisen Ehler. Emmetsburg rallied to tie it at 10, then the set went back and forth until Emmetsburg went on a 4-0 run. Addisen Ehler pulled the Raiders back into it from the service line, putting them up 22-21. East Sac held on for a 25-22 win. The second set was tied at 11 when Emmetsburg took control, going on a 6-0 run. The Raiders tried to rally, pulling within 23-20 but fell down 25-21.

Emmetsburg took the lead late in set three, going on a 4-0 run. East Sac rallied and tied it a 22.  Emerson Ludwig found Addisen Ehler for a kill, putting the Raiders up 23-22. Emerson Ludwig and Jordin Carroll had a big block, putting them up  for good as they Addisen Ehler ended the set with a kill. East Sac went up four early in set four, pulling away for a 25-16 win to win the match 3-1.

Addisen Ehler had a team high 23 kills along with 11 digs and 5 aces. Kendall Quirk and Katelyn Schmitt both had 11 kills with Schmitt having 6 digs and 2 aces. Jordin Carroll finished with 47 assists and 9 digs. Ella Wilson added 7 digs and Emerson Ludwig 4 blocks.

East Sac improves to 16-7 overall and 6-1 in the Twin Lakes Conference. They host SE Valley on Tuesday.

Paton Churdan played really well on the road on Thursday, especially in the 2nd set, fighting backing several times to lose 25-20. The back row had one of their best matches of the season, showing potential for the remainder of the year, digging some tough hits by the Bulldogs. They stayed close in set three as well before falling 25-15.

Mia Russell paced them 4 kills with Grace Cullum adding 11 digs and Alivya Smith having 1 ace.

The Rockets fall to 2-6 overall and 0-5 in the Rolling Valley. They host CAM on Tuesday.

The Coon Rapids Bayard-Crusaders stay perfect in conference play as they pick up a win over West Harrison in a triangular on Thursday. The Crusaders picked up their 15th win this season in the victory over West Harrison. The first set was the closest. The Crusaders would go on to win the first set 25-18, taking an early 1-0 lead over West Harrison. CRB controlled the second set as they would go up 2-0 with a 25-17 win. The third set was all Crusades, as it was never close. CRB picked up a 25-9 win in the third set and went on to win 3-0 over West Harrison.

Amelia Cook was outstanding in all three sets as she recorded a team-high 36 assists. Malia Clayburg continued her excellent season at the net, picking up 19 kills in the win. Ashtyn Klocke chipped in eight kills for the Crusaders. As a team, CRB recorded 57 digs. Anna Hart recorded a team-high 20 digs.

The Crusaders cruised to another win on Thursday with a blowout win over Madrid. Neither set was close, as CRB won 2-0. CRB went on to win 25-9 in set number one as they controlled the set. With a 1-0 advantage, the Crusaders would pick up a win in set two 25-12. With the 2-0 win over Madrid, the Crusaders would go 2-0 on the night. Amelia Cook did a great job distributing the volleyball to hitters as she picked up 22 assists. Aubrey Hofbauer recorded six kills, which was tops on the team. As a team, the Crusaders had six aces in the win. With the win, CRB improved to 17-3. CRB is back in action on Tuesday against Woodbine.

The South Central Calhoun Titans picked up a couple of conference wins on Thursday over Southeast Valley and Pocahontas Area. In the Southeast Valley match, the first set was the closest. Both teams battled in the first set, but SCC walked away with a 25-19 win and took a 1-0 lead. SCC would win the second and third sets by double digits, building early leads in both. In the second set, SCC would win by 15 points, picking up a 25-10 win over Southeast Valley. The Titans rolled in the second set to a 25-11 victory as they would go on to win 3-0.

Norah Riedesel worked the volleyball to hitters excellently, recording a team-high 36 assists. Brenna McAlister led the Titans in kills with 15. Jayci Graeve added 14 kills in the win. The Titans recorded seven aces as a team, with McAlister picking up four of them.

The South Central Calhoun Titans picked up two conference wins on Thursday, helping them stay in a tight race for the top spot in the Twin Lakes Conference as the season starts to wind down. SCC would go on to sweep PAC in three straight sets with a 3-0 victory. Jayci Graeve led the way at the net for the Titans with 12 kills. Brenna McAlister recorded a team-high 11 digs in the win. Norah Riedesel continued her great night with 26 assists in the win. With both wins, SCC improved to 22-8. The Titans are back in action next Thursday against Manson Northwest Webster.

The IKM-Manning Wolves struggled to serve the volleyball on Thursday as they would drop a conference match on the road at AHSTW. IKM-Manning won the first set as it was back and forth, but the Wolves edged AHSTW 25-20, taking a 1-0 lead. The Second set was the closest of the night as it was tight all the way to the end. AHSTW would even the match up at 1-1 with a 25-23 win over IKM-Manning. AHSTW won the third set by double digits as they went on to win 25-14. In the fourth set, IKM-Manning kept it close but dropped the set 25-22 and the match 3-1.

Addisyn Bandow led the Wolves in kills with 13. Karlee Arp recorded a team-high 25 assists in the loss. Keagan Eischeid chipped in seven kills. As a team, the Wolves recorded 77 digs. Anna Stangl led the way with 20 digs. With the loss, IKM-Manning falls to 3-9. The Wolves are back in action on Saturday in Denison at the Boyer Valley tournament.
