Kuemper won a marathon matchup over Shenandoah having to battle back from down two sets to one. Sets one and five were tight with two-points separating the teams in set one and the Knights pulling away late in set five with some great serves. The middle three sets were not competitive at all with Kuemper winning sets two and four 25-10 and 25-12 respectively and Shenandoah cruising in set three, winning 25-14. There were 10 ties and 7 lead changes in the first set, more than sets two through four combined. The Knights took the lead to start all five sets but needed to rally in set five, falling behind 4-3 and 8-7. They took the lead for good with back-to-back aces from Brianna Wittrock.

Kuemper scored the first-two-points to open the match but Shenandoah settled in, going on a 3-0 run. The set went back and forth, tying at 3,4, 5, 7 and 8 before Shenandoah went up 9-8 for the third lead change in the set. Addy Anthofer pulled Kuemper within 10-9 but Shenandoah went on another run, going up 14-11. Brianna Wittrock sparked the Knights with a kill, followed by an ace, pulling Kuemper within 14-13. Shenandoah stretched the lead back to 19-15 but Kuemper responded with a 5-0 run with Brianna Wittrock kill tying it at 19 and a kill from Karsyn Overmohle putting Kuemper up 20-19. Shenandoah went back ahead 21-20. Alivia Schenkelberg gave Kuemper a 22-21 lead with a kill and the Knights pressed ahead 23-21. Shenandoah finished the set with a 4-0 run to win 25-23.

Kuemper went ahead 6-0 in set two with a service run by Zoe Brunning and never looked back. Shenandoah closed within 8-4 but Brianna Wittrock added a 6-0 service run and the Knights pulled away to win 25-10. Elsa Tiefenthaler ended the match with an ace serve. The Knights went up 1-0 on a Kolbi Peter kill to start set three but Shenandoah took the lead for good at 2-1. Brianna Wittrock pulled Kuemper within 7-4 but the Knights never got any closer with the Mustangs cruising to a 25-14 win. Set four was similar except Kuemper dominated. The Knights went up 2-0 on a kill by Brianna Wittrock, followed by a kill from Elsa Tiefenthaler. Shenandoah did tied the set at 8 and 9 but Kolby Peter had a kill followed by a kill from Alivia Schenkelberg and back-to-back aces from Elsa Tiefenthaler. The Knights rolled to a 25-12 win, sending it to set five.

Kolbi Peter helped the Knights grab a 1-0 lead as they went up 3-0 to start the fifth set. Shenandoah answered with a 4-0 run, going up 4-3. They held the lead until the Knights tied it at 6-6 and went up 7-6. Shenandoah responded with two straight, grabbing their final lead of the match. Mariah Heuton tied it at 8 with a kill and Brianna Wittrock had back-to-back kills, putting Kuemper up 10-8. Karsyn Overmohle ended the match with back-to-back aces, giving Kuemper a 15-9 win.

Brianna Wittrock had a team high 13 kills as the Knights were balanced at the net. Kolbi Peter had 10 kills, Mariah Heuton added 8 kills and Alivia Schenkelberg finished with 7 kills. Wittrock added a team high 5 blocks while Elsa Tiefenthaler led the Knights with 5 aces. Karsyn Overmohle, Zoe Brunning, Kolbi Peter and Brianna Wittrock all had 3 aces. Elsa Tiefenthaler finished with a team high 22 assists with Karsyn Overmohle having 14 assists and Kaylie Simons adding 7 assists to go with 9 digs. Brooke Rohe had 7 digs, Brianna Wittrock and Elsa Tiefenthaler both had 6 digs.

Kuemper rolled to their second victory of the night and 27th win overall as they swept Atlantic with a strong defensive performance and a sharp serving match. Kuemper finished with 10 aces with 6 of them coming from Elsa Tiefenthaler. Karsyn Overmohle and Zoe Brunning both had 2 aces. The toughest of the three sets was the 2nd set with Kuemper in control all set, winning 25-15. Brianna Wittrock added a team high 11 kills along with 3 blocks. Addy Anthofer and Zoe Brunning both finishing with 5 kills with Kolbi Peter and Alivia Schenkelberg each having 4 kills. Elsa Tiefenthaler had a team high 11 assists with Karsyn Overmohle added 9 assists and Kaylie Simons finishing with 6 assists to go with 10 digs. Karsyn Overmohle added 7 digs with Brooke Rohe having 5 digs.

The Knights improved to  27-1 and are off until next Tuesday when they host Glenwood.

East Sac struggled to get in system against a good serving ACGC team, falling in three sets on the road. The Raiders hit the ball well with Addisen Ehler leading the way with 16 kills and Katelyn Schmitt adding 5 kills. The back row struggles kept East Sac from getting on long runs, though they battled well in sets two and three, falling 25-20 and 25-23. The Raiders serve was good but ACGC was able to stay in system, getting good looks and hitting the ball well. They controlled set one, winning 25-17, helping to keep a loud crowd in the match.

Jordin Carroll had 21 assists for the Raiders with Addisen Ehler leading the back row with 6 digs with Ella Wilson adding 5 digs and Carroll finishing with 3 digs. The Raiders struggled getting blocks, finishing with 5.

The loss drops East Sac to 15-7 as they prepare to host Emmetsburg on Thursday.

Exira-EHK earned their seventh win of the season and their second in a row, winning at Paton Churdan on Tuesday. The Rockets dropped their fifth straight match after a 2-0 start to the season. The Spartans were in control the first-two sets with Paton Churdan playing better in set three. Mia Russell continues a good start to the season for Paton Churdan with 5 kills and 9 digs with Grace Cullum adding an ace. Exira-EHK was able to keep in-game stats due to an illness in the staff.

The  Spartans improved to 7-3 overall and 2-1 in the Rolling Valley Conference with a home game against Ar-We-Va on 93.7 KKRL on Thursday. Paton Churdan falls to 2-5 overall and 0-4 in the Rolling Valley Conference with a road trip to Boyer Valley on Thursday.

Audubon played very well in a road match at Missouri Valley, falling short in sets one and two in tight matches. The Wheelers showed more growth in serve receive, giving them a chance to get good looks at the net with Harlow Miller taking advantage. Miller had 15 kills, hitting .196 with Alissa Testeroet hitting .300 with 3 kills and Kadence Brannan-Sporrer hitting .200 with 4 kills. Audubon battled hard, covering well, keeping plays alive, giving them a chance in a 28-26 loss in set one and a 25-23 loss in set two. Missouri Valley used the momentum from those tight wins to stretch their advantage in set three.

Anna Larsen had a terrific night, passing for 21 assists with 11 digs and 3 blocks. Kadence Brannan-Sporrer had 15 digs and Payton Gust added 9 digs. Abby Wanser continues to grow in her role with 8 digs and a pair of aces. Harlow Miller added 7 digs, 5 blocks and 3 aces to her 15 kills.

The Wheelers slip to 5-12 overall and 0-4 in the Western Iowa Conference. They head to the Boyer Valley Tournament in Denison on Saturday.

Coon Rapids Bayard and Glidden Ralston played to a five set thriller with Coon Rapids Bayard outlasting the Wildcats, snapping a three game losing streak. The Wildcats showed tremendous heart, battling back from down two sets to none to force a fifth set. The Crusaders were able to establish Malia Clayburg at the net, building a two nothing lead, winning set one 25-22 and set two 25-20. The Wildcats were balanced at the net with Lauren Hulsing, Kassidy Wenck and Allison Snyder all swinging well. The Wildcats showed improvement in serve receive, helping them earn wins in set three 25-18 and set four 25-21. The Crusaders back row came on strong in the fifth set as they edged away to win the match, winning 15-7.

Malia Clayburg was huge for Coon Rapids Bayard with 17 kills and 17 digs. Ella Heithoff had a strong night in the back row, leading the Crusaders with 21 digs while adding 2 aces. Amelia Cook did a nice job finding Clayburg while keeping her other hitters getting chances. She had 28 assists, adding 14 digs. Ashtyn Klocke finished with 10 digs and Anna Hart had 18 digs.

Lauren Hulsing led a balanced attack for Glidden Ralston with 14 kills with Kassidy Wenck adding 10 kills, Allison Snyder 8 kills and Ashlynn Tigges 6 kills. Tigges had a team high 20 digs with Kassidy Wenck and Allison Snyder both having 16 digs. MaKenna Wiederien continues to grow in her new setter role, finishing with 29 assists along with 3 aces. Olivia Squibb had 9 digs.

Coon Rapids Bayard improves to 15-3 overall and 3-0 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They host West Harrison on Thursday. Glidden Ralston falls to 5-5 overall and 1-3 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They host Glidden Ralston on Tuesday.

IKM-Manning At Tri Center

The IKM-Manning Wolves played well on the road but were swept by Tri-Center on Tuesday. The Wolves worked the ball to multiple hitters in the loss. The first set was back and forth, but Tri-Center came away with a 25-18 win. The second set was also won by Tri-Center 25-18, as they would take a 2-0 lead over IKM-Manning. The third set was the closest of the match. In the third match, IKM-Manning was able to keep it close but fell 25-23. The Wolves would go on to lose 3-0 to Tri-Center.

Keagan Eischeid was great at the net defensively, recording a team-high six blocks and five kills offensively in the loss. Addisyn Bandow recorded a team-high nine kills for the Wolves. Grace Carroll chipped in five kills in the loss. Anna Stangl has been great in the back row for IKM-Manning, recording a team-high 14 digs. With the loss, IKM-Manning falls to 3-8. The Wolves are back in action on Thursday against AHSTW.

Carroll vs North Polk

The Carroll Tigers played great in the first two sets of the match but fell at home to North Polk on Tuesday. The first set started back and forth, as there were five different times the set was tied. North Polk took a 12-11 lead and grew as the set went on and won 25-18, taking an early 1-0 lead over Carroll. In the second set, Carroll was able to use a 6-0 serving run by Marasyn Wittrock to jump out to an early lead. The set was never tied, and Carroll never lost the lead as they would go on to win 25-18, evening up the match at 1-1. In a very important third set, North Polk was able to jump out to an early lead, leading 6-1. The Tigers clawed their way back and trailed 15-14. Coming off of a timeout by North Polk, they would go on an 11-3 run and win the third set 25-18. In the fourth set, North Polk built an early 9-3, and it grew to 20-9. The Comets would go on to win the fourth set 25-15. The Tigers would fall at home to North Polk 3-1. 

Olivia Rowedder was a big factor at the net on the offensive end for the Tigers as she recorded a team-high 14 kills. Katelyn Aden added ten kills for Carroll in the loss. Off the bench, Analia Ayala recorded eight kills. Defensively, Carroll was great as well, picking up 14 blocks as a team. Amanda Wardell recorded a team-high four blocks. Chloe Kock added three blocks in the loss. Aden and Marasyn Wittrock each recorded 17 digs for Carroll. With the loss, the Tigers fall to 12-9 and 0-3 in conference play. Carroll is back in action on Saturday at the Nevada Tournament.
