The Merchants enter the playoffs with some momentum, scoring 4-runs in the bottom of the 9th to rally past Warren County in their regular season finale. The win snaps a 2-game losing streak and sets Carroll up as the 6th seed in the MINK League playoffs. They travel to Jefferson City on Monday for a 1-game playoff.
Jake McClure drove in the game winning run in the 9th with a 2 RBI single with 1-out in the 9th. The Merchants took advantage of early miscues by the Crop Dusters. Jordan Brandenburg leadoff the inning getting hit-by-pitch, Aiden Cizek singled and Nolan Oliver was hit-by-pitch to load the bases. Lanny Harris hit into a fielder’s choice for the 1st out but the bases remained loaded. Bryce Hoskinson singled, scoring Cizek from 3rd base. Arrington Eason walked to score another run, setting the stage for McClure. He singled, scoring Bryce Hoskinson and Michael Thompson to end the game. Warren County scored 3-runs in the top 9th to take a 13-10 lead after Carroll scored a pair of runs in the bottom 8th, tying the game at 10. The game see-sawed back and forth with Carroll holding the biggest lead at 5-1 after the two innings.
The Merchants end the regular season 18-25 overall and 17-24 in the MINK, finishing in 6th place in the eight team league.
