Tri Center At Kuemper

Kuemper won their third straight, scoring 5-runs in the 2nd inning to build a lead, then held on as Tri Center scored 3-runs over the final two innings. Tri Center walked the first-two batters in the 2nd inning, jump starting the Kuemper run. Josh Langel reached on an error to load the bases with no-outs. Mason Knerl singled, scoring John Boes, after Tristan Janson scored on a passed ball. A double from Carter Putney scored Knerl, putting the Knights up 4-0. Benicio Lujano singled to score Putney and Kuemper was up 5-0. Tri Center cut into the deficit with a run in the top of the 4th but Kuemper answered in the bottom half. The Knights took advantage of another lead off walk and scored on a single by Tristan Janson. A leadoff walk in the 5th inning helped Kuemper extend the lead to 7-1 with Mason Knerl driving in Thomas Pottebaum. Kuemper gave a run back in the 6th when an error allowed the Trojans to score a run. They added a pair of runs in the 7th but a popup to 1st base ended the game with two runners on base.

Mason Knerl led the Knights with a pair of RBI. Ethan Loew earned the win, going 7 innings, allowing 0 earned runs on 5 hits with 3 strikeouts. Carter Putney and Ethan Loew both doubled with Putney driving in a run and scoring. Benicio Lujano and Tristan Janson both had a base hit, driving in a run and scoring a run.

The Knights three game winning streak improves them to 15-16 with a home game with Lewis Central on Tuesday.

Jackson Gross pitched extremely well for a complete game win. Carroll was strong on defense and had clutch hits throughout the game. The offense started quickly with Carter Essick driving in a run to open the scoring. Stone Sibenaller and Landon Petersen battled for a bases loaded walks and Braxton Lu had a sac fly, putting Carroll up 4-0. Winterset pushed a run across in the 1st inning, scoring again in the 2nd inning to pull within 4-2. Carroll quickly responded, scoring a pair of runs in the 3rd inning. Stone Sibenaller doubled, driving in a run and Landon Petersen singled to score the other run. Tate Schleisman gave them an insurance run in the 4th, scoring on a Huskies error. Jackson Gross took over for Carroll, dominating the Huskiers from the 2nd inning on, pitching a shutout from the 3rd inning on.

Jackson Gross earned the win, throwing a complete game, allowing 6 hits and 1 earned run with 3 strikeouts. Carter Essick had a pair of hits with an RBI and scoring twice. Landon Petersen had a 2 hit game, driving in a pair of runs. Stone Sibenaller doubled, driving in a pair of runs and scored a run. Tate Schleisman added a double and scored twice.

Carroll picked up their first conference win, moving to 1-13 in the league and 8-15 overall. They host Carroll on Tuesday.

Ar-We-Va had three hits in a loss on the road on Monday. Riverside scored 5-runs in the 1st inning, finishing the game with a run in the 5th inning to end the game. The Bulldogs scored 5-earned runs on 5-hits. Their lead grew to 8-0 with 3-runs in the 3rd inning.

Blayne Smith, Wade Ragaller and Devon Ehlers all had hits for the Rockets.

The Rockets fall to 1-13 overall and will host IKM-Manning on Tuesday.

Audubon fell on the road, stranding a runner on base in the top 1st before Martensdale St Mary’s had their first-seven batters reach base, scoring 3-runs before the first out and 8-runs in the 1st inning. The Wheelers got the bats going in the 3rd inning with Adam Obrecht singling with 1-out, Aaron Olsen reaching on an error. Adam Obrecht scored later in the inning on an error and Carson Wessel singled, scoring Aaron Olsen. Martensdale St Mary’s answered with a 4-run bottom 3rd. They added a run in the 4th. Carson Meaike walked to start the 5th for Audubon and Adam Obrecht was hit-by-pitch. Meaike scored on a wild pitch and Obrecht scored on a groundout by Aaron Olsen. The Blue Devils scored in the bottom 5th to end the game.

Carson Wessel had 2 of the Wheelers 3-hits, adding an RBI. Adam Obrecht added a base hit and scored twice. Aaron Olsen had an RBI and scored  a run.

The Wheelers fall to 1-23-1 and will host Exira-EHK on Tuesday.

Glidden Ralston hit the ball well but most of the time it was at a Ram defender. They finished with 4-hits including a double from Mark Lensch. Alex Daniel and Colby Wallace pitched well, keeping the Wildcats in striking distance. The Rams scored a run in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th innings, taking a 3-0 lead into the 7th inning. Alex Daniel got on base for the Wildcats in the top 7th and scored on a base hit by Collin Sturm. That would be the only run the Wildcats could muster in a 3-1 loss.

Mark Lensch and Collin Sturm both had 2-hits with Lensch doubling and Sturm driving in a run. Alex Daniel scored a run and pitched 4 innings with 2 earned runs and 2 strikeouts. Colby Wallace went 2 innings, allowing 1 hit.

The Wildcats fall to 3-15 and will head to East Sac on KIKD 106.7 on Tuesday.

The Titans battled hard but had the game slip away late, falling 6-1 to Ridge View. The Raptors scored 5-runs in the 6th inning, breaking the tie. South Central Calhoun scored in the 4th inning, tying the game when Andrew Anderson scored. The Raptors had taken a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning, scoring on Andrew Anderson, who had a good start on the hill for the Titans. He went 3 innings, allowing 1 hit and 1 earned run with 6 strikeouts. Anderson added one of the Titans 3-hits. Charlie Nattress and Brock Nattress both had a hit.

The Titans fall to 8-11 overall and will travel to OABCIG on Wednesday.

Coon Rapids Bayard dropped the first game of a doubleheader, falling to Bishop Garrigan 8-4. The Golden Bears jumped out early, scoring 4-runs combined over the first-three innings. Coon Rapids Bayard tried to battle back late, getting a pair of runs in the 6th and two more runs in the 7th. Bishop Garrigan responded to the Crusaders with 3-runs in the top 7th. Kolby Culbertson had a 2-run double and Ty Heydon added and RBI single for Coon Rapids Bayard.

Kolby Culbertson and Ty Heydon had the Crusaders 2-hits with Culbertson doubling, driving in a pair of runs and Ty Heydon singling, driving in a run. Cal Heydon scored 2-runs and Caden Oswald and Jace Baker both scored a run. Cade Behrens went 6 2/3 innings, allowing 9 hits and 5 earned runs with 8 strikeouts.

In a game that could be a preview of a 2nd round district matchup Coon Rapids Bayard outscored IKM-Manning, winning 11-7. The Wolves scored first, getting 3-runs in the top 1st, but Coon Rapids Bayard responded with a 5-run bottom 1st. The Crusaders built a 9-3 lead with 2-runs in the 2nd and 4th innings. The lead grew to 11-3 heading to the 7th when the Wolves rallied with 4-runs to pull within 11-7. Neither team collected a lot of hits. The Wolves finished with 6-hits, walking 7 times while Coon Rapids Bayard had 3-hits, walking 14 times. Cade Behrens and Mason Culbertson had RBI singles for Coon Rapids Bayard.

Mason Culbertson, Kolby Culbertson and Cade Behrens all had a base hit for Coon Rapids Bayard. Behrens had a pair of RBI, Kolby Culbertson scored twice and Mason Culbertson added an RBI. Tyler Mohr scored a pair of runs and Max Shirbroun earned the win, going 6 innings, allowing 4 hits, 3 earned runs with 7 strikeouts.

Zander Richards had a pair of hits with 2 RBI for IKM-Manning. Tristan Barry drove in 3-runs, Braden Fuchs and Ross Kusel both scored a pair of runs. Jace Starman had a single, driving in a run.
