Kuemper game in with some momentum and kept it rolling, cruising in game one of a varsity doubleheader. The Knights scored 5-runs in the 1st inning, adding 7 more runs in the 2nd inning. They received a terrific pitching performance from Evan Loew, going all 5 innings, allowing 5 hits and no earned runs. He struck out 2 but didn’t walk anyone. Kuemper out hit Red Oak 9-5 and eight Knights scored at least 1-run. Red Oak had some defensive issues, helping Kuemper rack up the runs. Tristan Janson scored on a 2-out error in the 1st inning, scoring Ethan Loew with the first run of the game. Kuemper used three straight walks, followed by a single by Aaron McDermott to score 4 more runs. The 7-runs in the 2nd inning, came on 4 hits with Aaron McDermott driving in a pair of runs.
Ethan Loew had 3 hits and scored twice while Aaron McDermott had a pair of hits with a team high 3 RBI. Mason Knerl also had 3 RBI and scored a pair of runs. Tristan Janson, Carter Putney, Josh Langel and Logan Rial all scored twice. Evan Loew went 5 innings with 5 hits and no earned runs.

The Knights made short work of game two, cruising to a sweep, collecting 11 hits and driving in 9 of their 14-runs. Landon Pottebaum was equally effective on the mound, allowing 1 hit and 1 earned run with 6 strikeouts. Eight different players collected a hit and eight different players scored at least one run. The Knights blew the game open again in the 2nd inning, scoring 7-runs, then put the game out of reach in the 4th inning with 5-runs.
Ethan Loew and Benicio Lujano both had a pair of hits with Lujano having a pair of RBI and both scoring a run. Evan Loew and Ethan Loew both scored 3 times. Mason Knerl, Tristan Janson and Carter Putney all had doubles and John Boes picked up a triple. Putney had a 2-hit ball game. Landon Pottbaum earned the win, going all 5 innings with 1 hit and 1 earned run while striking out 6.
The pair of wins improves Kuemper to 7-8 overall and 5-2 in the Hawkeye 10 Conference. They head to Creston for a varsity doubleheader on Monday.

IKM-Manning hung tight until late, trailing 5-2 going into the 7th inning before the Eagles scored 3-runs in the top 7th to edge away. The Wolves collected 6 hits compared to 9 hits for Underwood. The offense scored on the bottom 1st, tying the game at 1, then tied it at 2 with a run in the bottom 3rd. Both times they matched a run by the Eagles. That changed in the 4th when Underwood pushed 3-runs across the plate but IKM-Manning didn’t answer. The Eagles extended the lead to 8-2 with 3 more in the 7th.
Jace Starman pitched well in the loss, allowing 9 hits and 7 earned runs in 7 innings. Lane Sams had a pair of hits and Starman doubled, Ross Kussel scored and Kasche Huehn scored a pair of runs.

IKM-Manning earned the biggest win of the season across the entire state on Friday, knocking off unbeaten and number one ranked Underwood. The Wolves did it in dominant fashion. Tristan Barry was terrific on the hill, earning the win, giving up 2 earned runs on 4 hits. He struck out 5 and more importantly only walked 2 which has been a priority this for the staff this season. The Wolves offense did their part, collecting 13 hits and scoring 12-runs. IKM-Manning put pressure on the Eagles scoring in each of the final five innings. They scored 4-runs in the 3rd and 4th innings, building an 8-2 lead.
IKM-Manning had five players with 2 hits each. Kasche Huehn scored 4-runs and was on base 4 times. Lane Sams had a pair of hits and scored twice along with driving in a pair of runs, Bryc Summerfield had 2 hits with 2 RBI and scored once, Brock Kusel doubled as 1 of his 2 hits and Braden Fuchs added a pair of hits along with scoring once and driving in a run. Tristan Barry added a double at the plate to his outstanding night on the hill.
The split moved IKM-Manning to 7-6 overall and 4-4 in the Western Iowa Conference. They are off until Tuesday when they host Tri Center.

East Sac gave up 2 big innings that caused the game to get away from them on the road on Friday. The Raiders gave up 7-runs in the 3rd inning on 4 hits and 3 errors. Then allowed 8-runs in the 6th inning on 3 hits with a pair of errors and 4 walks. They did a great job of responding early to give themselves a chance to win. Ogden pounded out a pair of hits in the 1st inning but didn’t score. After the Bulldogs scored a pair of runs in the 2nd inning, East Sac responded with 4-runs in the 3rd. Landon Sporrer had an RBI and Jack Gullett had a 2 RBI triple, giving them a 4-2 lead. Ogden bounced back with the big bottom 3rd and led 9-4. The Raiders got right back into the game in the 4th inning. They batted around the lineup, scoring 3-runs on a pair of hits. They were helped with Ogden 2 walks and 2 hit-by-pitches. Karter Ludwig and Luke Wernimont both had RBI singles and Jack Gullett was walked, scoring a run. They Raiders were down 9-7 until the bottom of the 6th.
Jack Gullett had a triple with 3 RBI to lead the Raiders. Landon Sporrer scored a pair of runs and drove in a run, Luke Wernimont added a base hit a run scored and an RBI. Luke Wright went 2 1/3 IP, allowing 2 hits and 2 earned runs in relief.
The loss drops the Raiders to 2-6 as they get ready to host Newell Fonda on Monday.

Kolby Culbertson struck out 15 and allowed 1 hit as Coon Rapids Bayard earned a nice home win on Friday. Cal Heydon added 3 hits, driving in 3-runs to help the Crusaders grab an early lead. CAM took a 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning but Coon Rapids Bayard responded in their half with 3-runs. They stretched the lead to 5-1 with a pair of runs in the 4th inning.
Cal Heydon went 3-3 in the game with a double and 3 RBI. Caden Oswald drove in a run on an RBI single, then scored twice in the game. Kolby Culbertson had an outstanding performance on the hill, going 7 innings, allowing 1 hit and no earned runs. Culbertson struck out 15 and walked 3 in earning the win. He added a pair of runs scored on offense.
The win moves Coon Rapids Bayard to 8-5-1. They take on Algona in the opening round of the Carroll Classic on Saturday.

South Central Calhoun’s four game winning streak ended on Friday, falling on the road to Emmetsburg in 6 innings. The Titans struggled early, allowing 4-runs in the 2nd inning to trail 5-0, They tried to rally with a run in the top 4th but Emmetsburg added 4-runs in the bottom 4th, then scored a pair of runs in the bottom 6th to end it.
The Titans finished with 7 hits with Cooper Nattress leading the way with 3 hits. Andrew Anderson and Cooper Nattress both doubled. Aidan Albright and Caleb Juhl both scored.

Glidden-Ralston picked up an exciting come-from-behind victory against Boyer Valley at home on Friday. Neither team scored in the first two innings. Boyer Valley took an early lead in the fourth inning, plating five runs in the top of the fourth, taking a 5-0 lead. The score would remain the same going to the sixth inning. The Bulldog lead grew to 6-0. In the home half of the sixth inning, Glidden-Ralston plated their first runs but trailed 6-2. In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Wildcats plated five runs, with Daniel Thooft picking up the walk-off single to win the game 7-6.
The Wildcats recorded 12 hits as a team, four of which went for extra bases. Daniel Thooft was 2-4 with a home run and three RBI. Mark Lensch was 2-4 with a double and three RBIs. Jonathan Bergmeier, Colby Wallace and Landon Rohrbeck also recorded multi-hit games. Blayce Nelson and Collin Sturn recorded the other hits for Glidden-Ralston. Nelson went five innings on the mound, giving up four earned runs and striking out four Boyer Valley hitters. Bergmeier picked up the win on the hill, pitching two innings and giving up only one hit. With the win, Glidden-Ralston improves to 2-7. The Wildcats are back in action on Monday against Woodbine.

The Wheelers tied the game in the top of the 5th, scoring a pair of runs on a double by Aaron Olsen and a single by Brody Schultes. Olsen doubled to left field, scoring Adam Obrecht with 2-outs in the inning. That pulled the Wheelers within 1, before Schultes blooped a ball to center field, scoring Olsen who took 3rd on an error. The Wheelers felt they had momentum but AHSTW had a quick answer. They had grabbed an early lead with a run in the 1st and another in the 3rd. They blew the game open with an 8-run bottom of the 5th. Their rally started with a pop out to 1st base, then back-to-back walks. Audubon got a strikeout but AHSTW scored on a wild pitch to take the lead at 3-2. They added a run on a 2-out single. That opened the flood gates as they added 6-runs in the inning to lead 10-2 heading to the 6th. Audubon showed some fight, scoring 3-runs with Ely Jorgensen driving in Evan Alt, Colten Hansen knocking in Carson Wessel on a sac fly and Gabe Jensen doubling to score Adam Obrecht. AHSTW added a run in the bottom 6th and stranded two Wheelers on base in the 7th to end the game.
Aaron Olsen had a pair of hits, including a double with an RBI and scored a run. Brody Schultes drove in a run and Carson Wessel had a team high 3 hits and scored a run. Colton Hansen doubled to drive in a run, Adam Obrecht scored a pair of runs.

The Audubon Wheelers picked up their first win of the season with a ten-run win over AHSTW in game two of a varsity doubleheader. The Wheelers scored in the first four innings. Audubon hit the ball well, recording ten hits with two going for extra bases. Audubon opened the game with three runs in the top of the first. AHSTW chipped in with two runs, but the Wheelers held on to a 3-2 lead going to the second inning. Three more runs came across for Audubon in the second as they extended their lead to 6-2. The Wheeler would add two more runs in the third and four in the fourth inning as they would go on to win 12-2.
Brody Schultes continued his excellent start to the year as he went 4-4 with a double and three RBI. Ely Jorgensen and Aaron Olsen each recorded multi-hit games. Evan Alt and Gabe Jensen recorded the other hits for the Wheelers. Adam Obrecht went all five innings on the mound, picking up the win. Obrecht gave up two hits and struck out five AHSTW hitters.
