Carroll and East Sac At OA-BCIG Tournament

The East Sac County Raiders opened up the two-day OABCIG tournament with a loss to Collins-Maxwell. The Raiders only picked up one hit in the match-up. Collins-Maxwell came in with only one loss of the season. They opened the game with six runs in the top of the first inning. The game only lasted three innings. Collins-Maxwell scored in every inning. Their lead would go to 11-0 in the second inning. Collins-Maxwell went on to win 12-0. Anna McCollough recorded the lone hit for East Sac County. She was the only Raider to reach base safely. Mckenna Steiger picked up the loss in the circle, pitching two innings, giving up ten hits and five earned runs. East Sac County falls to 4-4. The Raiders will play OABCIG on Saturday.

Carroll vs OABICIG – 1st Round

The Carroll Tigers pick up an opening-round win against OABCIG at a two-day tournament. As a team, Carroll recorded nine hits. Kloee Jones and Parker Adams each recorded multi-hit games. Jones went 3-4 with a triple. The Tigers would go on to win 6-0. Averi Burke pitched well, going six innings in the circle and picking up the win. Burke gave up four hits and struck out two OABCIG hitters. Burke, Analia Ayala, Jersey Sporrer, and Bella Lu also recorded a hit for the Tigers. With the win, Carroll improves to 5-9. The Tigers are back in action Saturday against Collins-Maxwell.

Boyer Valley at Glidden-Ralston

The Glidden-Ralston Wildcats end a four-game losing streak with a ten-run win over Boyer Valley at home Friday. Jaelyn Subbert continues to improve in the circle for the Wildcats. She picked up two strikeouts in the top of the first inning against Boyer Valley. In the home half of the first inning, Subbert came to bat with two outs and hit a solo home run over the left-field fence. Glidden-Ralston would extend their lead in the bottom of the second inning, scoring seven runs off of two hits to make it 8-0. The Wildcats were patient at the plate against Boyer Valley, recording eight walks.

Boyer Valley would stay in the game, plating a run in the home half of the first inning, making the score 8-1. Boyer Valley recorded their first hit in the fourth inning. In the top of the fifth inning, the Bulldogs plated two more runs to make the game 8-3 in favor of Glidden-Ralston. Glidden-Ralston plated five runs in the home half of the fifth. Subbert brought in the winning run on a base hit. The Wildcats would go on to win 13-3.

As a team, Glidden-Ralston recorded six hits. Tiela Janssen was 2-4 at the plate with an RBI. Jaelyn Subbert was 2-4 with a home run and four RBIs while scoring twice. Kassidy Wenck was 1-3 with two RBI. Brieligh Bock was 1-2 with two RBI. Subbert picked up the win in the circle, going all five innings, giving up three hits, and striking out seven Boyer Valley hitters. With the win, Glidden-Ralston improved to 3-5 and 1-1 in the Rolling Valley. The Wildcats are back in action on Saturday against Kuemper on KIKD 106.7.

The South Central Calhoun Titans continue to improve on the offense end. The Titans would go on the road Friday and lose to Emmetsburg by ten runs. The Titans were unable to score in the first three innings, but the bats came to life in the last couple of innings. Emmetsburg plated five runs in the home half of the first inning. The lead would grow to 7-0 going to the fourth inning. In the top of the fourth inning, SCC scored three runs, cutting into the Emmetsburg lead at 7-3. The E-Hawks responded with three more in the home half of the fourth, taking a 10-3 lead. The Titans were able to get a run back in the fifth but gave up four in the bottom of the inning as they went on to lose 14-4.

Olivia Toms was 2-3 with two runs scored, and Gracie Hungate was 2-3 with two RBIs. Mady Smidt, Mia Babcock, Morgan McChesney, and Tori Best recorded the other hits for the Titans. Smidt was the losing pitcher, going five innings and giving up 14 earned runs on eight hits. With the loss, the Titans fall to 0-8. The Titans are back in action on Monday against Alta-Aurelia.

The Coon Rapids-Bayard Crusaders fall at home to CAM. Neither team scored in the first two innings. CAM scored the game’s first run, taking a 1-0 lead. The lead would grow to 7-0 after a six-run fourth inning by CAM. The Crusaders first run game in the home half of the fourth, making the score 7-1. Five more runs came across for CAM as they would lead 12-1. CRB was able to keep the game going, cutting into the lead at 12-5. CAM scored four more in the sixth and would go on to win 16-5.

Anna Hart had a pair of hits, driving in a pair of runs and scoring once. She took the loss, going 6 innings, allowing 4 earned runs with 5 strikeouts and 15 hits. Maddy Mason went 1-2 and scored a run and Ella Heithoff had a base hit.

With the loss, Coon Rapids-Bayard falls to 4-5. The Crusaders are back in action on Tuesday against Grandview Christian.
