Brincks Exteriors Sports Report: Kuemper Boys Golf Advances to State

Boys District Golf Results Monday, May 13th 

Kuemper and Caleb Gaffney of South Central Calhoun At Landsmeer Golf Club- Class 2A  

Kuemper advances to State Golf with an 8-stroke win over Ridge View and Cherokee at Landsmeer on Monday. The Knights had a strong day with three of their top four scores shooting in the 70’s with Maverick Schwabe winning a playoff to earn the individual title and Medalist honor. Their fourth score was right at 80. With the win, Kuemper will head to Coldwater Golf Links to play for a State Championship. The State Tournament is Monday and Tuesday, May 20th and 21st.

Maverick Schwabe defeated Graden Van Essen of Unity Christian for Medalist honors with both guys shooting a 75. Carter Putney added a 78 with Kayden Schon a 79. Braxton Vonnahme gave Kuemper their fourth score, shooting an 80 as the Kuemper depth continued to shine on Monday. Schwabe has been the consistent leader for them this season but the other five guys behind him have done a nice job all season of finding three other low scores.

Caleb Gaffney of South Central Calhoun had a chance to make State as an individual. The sophomore has had a tremendous season but fell short on Monday, finishing with a 90.

Audubon At Crestwood Hills At Anita- Class 1A

Sidney advances to State as a District champ and MMCRU edges East Mills for 2nd place to advance as a team. Audubon had a terrific season that came to an end on Monday. The Wheelers finished 8th with a 344 with two golfers finishing in the top 20. Edward Miller and Oliver Deist both shot 82, finishing 16th and 18th respectively. Chase Jahde of CAM was Medalist, finishing with a 69 with Keith Thompson of Hamburg advancing to State as Runner-Up Medalist with a 72.

Henry Burr added an 88 for the Wheelers with Evan Alt shooting a 92.

Coon Rapids Bayard At Willow Creek- Class 1A

Coon Rapids Bayard saw their outstanding run come up a little short of their goal at the State Tournament this season but they had another tremendous season, shooting a 335 with four golfers in the 80’s including two at 81. The Crusaders finished in 5th place as a team with Boyden Hull winning the team title with a 303 and Gehlen Catholic adding a 315 for 2nd place. The Crusaders had a strong round in a loaded district and Head Coach David Van Ahn is very proud of the way his team played all season and on Monday. They are still a young team with only one senior in Toby Benninger.

Gavin Heiderscheit and Max Shirbroun both shot 81 to lead Coon Rapids Bayard with Logan Kenyon adding an 85 and Cole Cretsinger shooting a 88.
