The Kuemper Knights advance in the team tennis playoffs as they pick up a couple of wins on Friday. The Knights were dominant against Des Moines Hoover in the opening round, picking up a 5-0 victory. Kaylie Simons picked up a 2-0 win in number one singles, winning 6-0 and 6-0. Kuemper won every match against Hoover 2-0, going 66-0 in sets played. With the win, Kuemper advanced to take on Boone.
Against Boone, the Knights won 5-1, and the match was more competitive than the final score indicates. Simons won the opening match 2-0 (6-4, 6-3). In number three singles, Ella Schwarte won 2-1 (4-6, 6-2, 10-3). Julia Craig’s match in singles play was also close. Craig picked won 2-1 (4-6, 6-2, 10-8).
Kuemper was dominant all night, only dropping one match out of ten played. With the wins, the Knights advance to take on North Polk on Tuesday at Boone.

The Audubon Wheelers season comes to an end with a loss in Denison against St. Albert on Friday. As the match went on, the Wheelers started to find their grove dropping a couple of close games. Briley Belnap continued her outstanding season in singles play as she won 2-0 (9-7, 6-1). Rachael Rynearson also had a close match and was competitive but fell 2-0 (7-5, 6-4). The other Audubon win came from Samantha Warnaca, who won 2-0 (6-1, 6-0). The Wheelers wrap their season up with a 1-12 record.
