Ar-We-Va hung tough in the 1st quarter, down 18-10 but Coon Rapids Bayard cranked up the intensity in the 2nd quarter, outscoring the Rockets 17-0, taking control of the game on their way to their third straight win. The Crusaders defense created turnovers, speeding up the Rockets, leading to run out baskets. Their guards did a nice job reading passing lanes and getting hands on passes. The Rockets were able to get shots from the corner in the halfcourt, knocking down a few in the 1st quarter, keeping the game tight. The Rockets played well again in the 3rd quarter but Coon Rapids Bayard was able to separate again in the 4th quarter.
Anna Hart spearheaded the Crusaders attack on both ends of the floor, finishing with 14-points, 5 assists and 9 steals. Malia Clayburg added 13-points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Breeley Clayburg had 12-points. Aubrey Hofbauer added 8 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals while Ella Heithoff had 8-points and 3 steals.
Delaney Schurke led the Rockets with 9-points and 6 rebounds while Gabby Hundling added 5-points and 4 rebounds.
Coon Rapids Bayard improves to 12-3 overall and 10-3 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They travel to Kuemper on Saturday on KIKD 106.7. Ar-We-Va falls to 2-13 overall and 2-9 in the RVC. They host Woodbine on Friday.

Paton Churdan had seven girls scores, led by 6-points from Ava Minnehan and 5-points from Kaliyah Minnehan in a home loss to Boyer Valley on Thursday. The Rockets trailed 13-6 at the end of the 1st quarter but were outscored 19-3 in the 2nd quarter. They battled hard in the 3rd quarter but weren’t able to get baskets to fall in the final stanza. The Alivya Smith added 4-points in the loss.
Paton Churdan falls to 0-14 overall and 0-9 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They host CAM on Friday.
