The Raiders moved to 3-0 with a dominant 4th quarter, pulling away in a game that was tied seven times and had fourteen lead changes through three quarters. East Sac outscored the Falcons 16-9 in the 4th quarter, using an 11-0 run from late in the 3rd quarter into the 4th quarter to take command. Their biggest lead until the 4th quarter was 4-points in the 1st quarter while the Falcons led 22-15 in the 2nd quarter. OABCIG scored the first-7-points in the 2nd quarter and looked to be taking charge but Sam Julin hit a tough runner in the lane, the drained a pair of threes to pull the Raiders within 24-23. A pair of Ryan Clair free throws late in the 3rd quarter put East Sac up for good, as they led 47-46 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

Both teams executed well in the 1st quarter as the game was tied 15-15 heading to the 2nd quarter. Ryan Clair and Luke Wright worked well together in the quarter, sharing the ball with each other for easy buckets inside while Sam Julin hit the first of his four-3’s in the game. The Falcons closed out the quarter on a 3-0 run to tie it, then scored seven straight to start the 2nd quarter. Sam Julin brought the Raiders back, pulling them within a point and Ryan Clair scored to put East Sac up 25-24. The Falcons regained the lead at half, up 28-26. The 1st half featured 7 lead changes and two ties.

OABCIG extended the lead to 30-26 to start the 3rd but East Sac rallied to take a 36-35 lead on a bucket by Luke Wright. Jackson Rubendall hit a three, extending the Raiders lead to 39-25. The Falcons responded with 8-0 run and led 43-39. Back-to-back 3’s from Karter Ludwig and Jackson Rubendall put East Sac up 45-44. The game swung back and forth for a few points with Ryan Clair giving East Sac a 47-46 lead at the end of the 3rd. Ryan Clair hit a pair of free throws to open the 4th quarter, Caleb Eichorn scored to extend the lead to 51-46 with Jackson Rubendall draining another 3, followed by a bucket from Ryan Clair. East Sac was up 10 but OABCIG pulled within 6 before East Sac put the game away with 6 straight points.

Ryan Clair had big game with 22-points and 15 rebounds with 3 block shots. Sam Julin added 15-points while Jackson Rubendall added 12-points with Julin and Rubendall both made 4-3’s. Luke Wright added 6 rebounds.

The Raiders head to Newell Fonda on Friday with a 3-0 record.

Cade Behrens broke a school record for made threes in a game, hitting 9 on his way to 29-points as the Crusaders racked up 87-points in a road win. The previous record from made 3’s by one player was held by Shannon Obert (1992-1993), Jacob Waddle (1991-1992), Johnny Schwaller (1991-1992) and Keaton Schlatter (2011-2012) who had all made 8. Coon Rapids Bayard shot the ball well, hitting 52.4% from the  field and 12-29 from down town with Behrens hitting 9-18 from three. The defense was strong, creating turnovers, leading to run out buckets. The ball movement was strong, helping nine players score. Coon Rapids Bayard blew the game open in the 2nd quarter, after leading 17-9 at the end of the 1st quarter, they scored 30-points in the 2nd quarter. Cal Heydon had a big 1st half and Kolby Culbertson was outstanding all game. The Crusaders never left the Bulldogs back in the game, scoring 40-points in the 2nd half.

Cade Behrens had a team high 29-points on 9-3’s. Cal Heydon added 19-points and 8 rebounds. Kolby Culbertson finished with 10-points, Caden Oswald had 5 assists and Ty Heydon added 5 rebounds.

The Crusaders improved to 5-0 overall and 4-0 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They host Paton Churdan on Friday.

Glidden-Ralston vs Greene County

The Glidden-Ralston Wildcats picked up a non conference win over Greene County in a physical battle. The Wildcats jumped out to a 9-7 lead after a slow start from both teams. Glidden-Ralston was able to extend their lead to 14-7 before Greene County went on a 10-0 run to take a 17-14 lead. The rest of the half was back and forth, and the Wildcats took a one-point lead, 22-21, into the locker rooms. Glidden-Ralston built a 41-34 lead in the second half before Greene County went on a run. Glidden-Ralston played excellent defense throughout the game and came away with a 41-40 lead. 

Colby Wallace was the leading scorer for the Wildcats with 12 points. Glidden-Ralston was very balanced scoring. Charles Schon was the second leading scorer for GR, as he recorded nine points. Emmett Snyder also chipped in eight for Glidden-Ralston. The Wildcats improved their record to 3-2. Glidden-Ralston is back in action on Tuesday against Woodbine.
