East Sac won their third straight, pulling away in the 4th quarter after the game had been tied once and changed leads four times in the 3rd quarter. A runner in the lane by Makenna Steiger gave East Sac the lead for good, then the inside duo of Kendall Quirk and Addisen Ehler took control on the boards and defensively in the 4th quarter.
The Raiders started quickly with Sarah Bontrager setting the tempo, attacking the rim and getting to the free throw line. She knocked down both free throws and East Sac built a 7-0 lead with a basket and free throw from Kendall Quirk and bucket by Addisen Ehler. The Falcons fought back, pulling within 11-9 by the end of the 1st quarter. Kendall Quirk gave East Sac a 13-9 lead in the 2nd quarter, then Makenna Steiger hit a three, putting the Raiders up 16-11. Neither team scored much in the quarter with East Sac outscoring the Falcons 7-4 with neither team scoring for the first few minutes of the quarter. Addisen Ehler scored late in the quarter to put the Raiders up 18-13 at half.
OABCIG scored the first-eight points in the 2nd half, forcing Raider coach Jason Phillips to set his starting 5. The Raiders trailed 21-18 before Chloe Beiret scored to pull them within 21-20. Jen Aschinger hit a big three to put East Sac up 23-21 but OABCIG answered, leading 24-23. Makenna Steiger hit a tough runner in the lane and East Sac went up for good 25-24. Sarah Bontrager put East Sac up 27-24 to start the 4th quarter, Makenna Steiger hit a pair of free throws followed by Kendall Quirk and Addisen Ehler hit back-to-back baskets and East Sac led 33-24. The Falcons pulled within six but Ehler and Quirk extended it back to ten. Jen Aschinger hit four free throws down the stretch as East Sac salted the game away, going 11-15 from the free throw line.
Kendall Quirk ended the game with 11-points and 14 rebounds, Addisen Ehler added 10-points, 10 rebounds and blocked 8 shots. East Sac was balanced after that with Makenna Steiger and Jen Aschinger both had 7-points with Aschinger pulling down 6 rebounds.
The Raiders are 3-1 and will travel to Newell Fonda on Friday.

The Coon Rapids-Bayard Crusaders picked up another conference Thursday night as they beat Boyer Valley. The Crusaders are off to a 4-0 start, winning all by double digits. CRB entered the game ranked 9th and quickly jumped out to a 20-5 lead going to the second quarter. CRB would take a 21-point lead into the half at 39-18. The Crusader’s defense was excellent again as they racked up double-digit steals as a team. CRB held Boyer Valley to three points in the third quarter as they would extend their lead 57-21 going into the fourth quarter. CRB would go on to beat Boyer Valley 66-26.
Breeley Clayburg led the Crusaders in scoring with 22 points. Malia Clayburg was the second CRB girl in double figures with 14 points. Anna Hart recorded double-digit assists with a team-high 12. As a team, CRB recorded 21 steals. The Crusaders improved to 4-0 on the season and 4-0 in Rolling Valley Conference play. CRB is back in action against Paton Churdan on Friday.

Glidden Ralston snapped a two game losing streak with a strong defensive performance on the road. The Wildcats held Greene County in single digits each quarter, with the fewest points scored in the 3rd quarter, giving up 4-points. The offense struggled in the 2nd half but the Wildcats did a nice job on the boards and getting to the free throw line. They built a 25-13 lead at half, but scored only 6-points in the 3rd before putting the game away in the 4th quarter.
Tiela Janssen had a team high 23-points with Kassidy Wenck scoring 8-points and 8 rebounds with Allison Snyder pulling down 6 rebounds and Elizabeth Lloyd added 5 rebounds.
The Wildcats improved to 3-2 on the season. They are off until Tuesday when they host Woodbine.
