Carroll was really consistent on both ends of the floor all game long, blowing open a tight game at half and running away to a 36-point win to open the season. The Tigers got production from everyone that played, highlighted by a tremendous effort by the bench. Carroll scored between 15-19-points in all four quarters while holding Webster City to 10-points in the 2nd half. The Tigers 40% from the field but struggled from the three-point line, hitting just 3 of 19 shots. They made up for it with 12 offensive rebounds and 17 assists on 28 made baskets. There were two lead changes but no ties in the game with the Tigers taking the lead for good at 6-5 on a bucket by Ali Kock.
Chloe Kock scored to open the game, putting Carroll up 2-0. Both offenses struggled for the next few minutes with Webster City able to score 5 straight points to take a 5-2 lead midway through the 1st quarter. Carroll chipped away with a bucket by Chloe Kock, then Ali Kock scored, putting them up 6-5. Ali added a free throw to make it 7-5. Chloe and Ali Kock both scored another bucket to extend the Tigers lead to 11-6, then Sophia Tidgre, who had played really well off the bench on defense hit a shot to make it 15-9. Carly Menken scored inside, keeping Carroll up 16-12. Tidgren blew the game open with a 3, putting Carroll up 19-12 early in the 2nd quarter. The Tigers lead stayed between 4-7 points most of the middle of the 2nd quarter. A Tiger flurry extended the lead with Katelyn Aden scoring, followed by a Mollie Feld bucket and a basket from Baylie Schulte, putting Carroll up 30-19. Schulte scored again and Carly Menken hit a free throw late and Carroll led 33-22 at half.
An 11-point run early in the 3rd quarter put the Tigers in complete control, leading 46-24 after five straight Carroll baskets by Olivia Rowedder, Sophia Tidgren, Carly Menken, Tidgren and Menken. The Tigers defense finished with 27 steals with 14 in the 2nd half. That helped them limit the Lynx shot attempts, holding Webster City to 5-points in the 3rd quarter. Carroll was able to go deeper in the bench late with Aubrie Schmitt-Hubbard draining a 3 to finish the game at 68-32.
Carroll had three girls in double figures with Sophia Tidgren leading the way with 14-points, Carly Menken added 13-points and Chloe Kock finished with 12-points. Katelyn Aden had a quiet night scoring but had a tremendous all-around game, finishing with 8-points along with 5 assists and 8 steals. Olivia Rowedder added 7-points. Sophia Tidgren also led the team with 9 rebounds and was second on the team with 5 steals. Ali Kock and Carly Menken both had 6 rebounds. Chloe Kock had 3 assists and 4 blocks.
The Tigers are 1-0 and will host Kuemper on Tuesday.

South Central Calhoun hung tough in their season opener and the second game of the season for Storm Lake. The Titans were within 10-points late in the 1st half but Storm Lake forced a few turnovers and scored 5 quick points to stretch the lead to 15-points at half. South Central Calhoun started a pair of seniors but played three freshman in the rotation and the entire teams inexperience in the 2nd half lead to some turnovers, helping Storm Lake outscore the Titans 34-18 in the 2nd half to put the game away. The Titans finished with 33 turnovers while shooting 38.1% from the field and 5-16 from three-point range. The defense was able to make 11 steals.
Freshman Blair Schleisman led the Titans with 15-points with Mia Babcock finishing with 8-points and Oliva Toms adding 6-points. Brenna McAlister had a team high 9 rebounds while Freshman Macie Dorman paced them with 3 assists. Olivia Toms led the team with 3 steals.
The Titans open the season 0-1 and will host South Hamilton on Tuesday.
