The Raiders got back to their winning ways on Friday, causing three turnovers, getting a big night from Luke Wright in special teams and the defense doing a nice job defending the run. The took over in the 2nd half, getting a pair of long field goals from Wright, then adding a pair of touchdowns in the 4th quarter to open things up. East Sac ran for 168-yards while throwing for 58-yards on 7 attempts. The defense held Eagle Grove to four-first downs and 137-yards with 71 of those yards coming on one passing play. The Raiders defense buckled down and Luke Wright jumped on a fumble at the Raiders 9-yard line. The East Sac defensive line did a great job of keeping the offensive line busy, allowing the linebackers to make a lot of plays.
The game started slowly on offense for both teams with the each team punting on their opening drive, then fumbling on their next possession. The Raiders controlled field position most of the game, forcing a punt for Eagle Grove on their third possession. The Raiders took over at their own 45-yard line, helping to set up a 37-yard field goal by Luke Wright, putting them up 3-0 with 5:34 left in the half. Eagle Grove hit a big pass, inside the Raiders 5-yard line on their ensuing possession but the Raiders recovered a fumble when Luke Wright jumped on a lose ball. The Raiders held a 3-0 lead at half with both defenses coming up with key stops.
East Sac started the 2nd half with the ball but punted. The defense made a stop, forcing Eagle Grove to punt, giving the ball to the Raiders at the Eagle 26-yard line. Luke Wright booted a 38-yard field goal, extending the lead to 6-0 with 4:49 left in the 3rd quarter. The Eagles turned it over on downs on their next possession and East Sac started at the Eagle 46-yard line. Luke Wright booted a 46-yard field goal on the final play of the 3rd and the lead was 9-0. A Bradyn Burns interception to start the 4th quarter, set up a Landon Grindle 2-yard touchdown run with 4:38 left and the Raiders were up 16-0. Eagle Grove turned it over on downs again and the Raiders kept the ball on the ground. Jack Gullett broke off a nifty 34-yard touchdown run with 2:38 left and East Sac wrapped up a 23-0 win.
Logan Schroeder had a team high 45-yards rushing, Landon Grindle added 42-yards rushing and a touchdown. Jack Gullett had 34-yard rushing and a touchdown. Bradyn Burns had 2 catches for 56-yards and had a big interception to start the 2nd half when he jumped a passing route. Karter Ludwig added 12 tackles with Brett Thayer having 8 tackles and 1.5 TFL. Luke Wernimont added 7.5 tackles and 1.5 TFL. Luke Wright went 3-3 on fields goals along with a fumble recovery.
The Raiders are 3-3 overall and 1-2 in the district. They head to Manson NW Webster for a huge district game for the fight for a playoff spot.
