Kuemper had their chances at sharing the Hawkeye 10 Conference title end on Thursday on the road against 6th ranked Lewis Central. Kuemper played well, winning the second set convincingly but the Titans bounced back to win set three and then ended the match with an overtime victory in set four, winning 30-28. Kuemper competed until the final point. Kuemper finished with 31 kills and 27 assists. They added 13 blocks and 58 digs.
Lauren Boell had a team high 8 kills, Frannie Glynn and Aubrey Heuton both added 7 kills and Kaci Peter had 5 kills. Karsyn Overmohle led the setters with 14 assists with Elsa Tiefenthaler adding 13 assists. Kaylie Simons had a team high 20 digs with Tiefenthaler having 12 digs and Brianna Wittrock finishing with 14 digs. Wittrock led the team with 4 blocks with Frannie Glynn and Alivia Schenkelberg both having 3 blocks. Kaci Peter led the Knights with 3 aces and Brianna Wittrock and Elsa Tiefenthaler both having 2 aces.
The Knights fall to 29-6 overall and 7-2 in the Hawkeye 10 and are in 3rd place. The Knights are off until October 10 at Harlan.

South Central Calhoun shook off the nerves of celebrating pink out night and senior night together as they earned a sweep of Manson NW Webster on Thursday, improving to 24-10 overall and 6-2 in the Twin Lakes Conference. The Titans started and finished quickly. Their serve kept the Cougars out of system most of the match, allowing them to get a lot of aces (13) and when they weren’t getting aces they were getting free balls sent back over the net. The Titans took advantage at the net, getting Jayci Graeve going early with Brenna McAlister and Mollie Monahan having big third sets. South Central Calhoun finished with 25 kills on limited opportunities.
Brenna McAlister served to start the match, helping the Titans build an early lead with an ace, making it 2-0. That was followed by kills from Jayci Graeve and Mollie Monahan as the Titans built a 4-1 lead. The Cougars rallied, cutting it to 4-3 but Graeve added another kill to star the run and South Central Calhoun began to pull away. Brenna McAlister had a kill, making it 9-5, then Graeve and Hayden Berquist went back-to-back on kills for a 12-5 lead. A Macie Dorman ace extended the lead to 13-5. The Cougars answered again with a service run by Peyton Davis, pulling within 14-10 but Hayden Berquist served back-to-back aces and the Titans were in control. Alexa Holm had and ace, putting the Titans up 24-15 as they won 25-15.
Norah Riedesel did a nice job moving things around for her hitters and in set two she found Mollie Monahan in the middle for a quick attack and the Titans were up 2-0. They ran out to a 7-0 lead with a pair of kills from Monahan and Jayci Graeve. Brenna McAlister added and ace. The Titans were never threatened in set two, cruising to a 25-5 win. They had five aces in the set and had the Cougars out-of-system all set.
The Cougars came out fighting in set three, tying the set at 2, 4 and 5 but the Titans again took control with Brenna McAlister getting hot at the net with three early kills along with a Macie Dorman ace and the Titans went up 10-6. McAlister and Jayci Graeve took turns with kills, then Mollie Monahan had back-to-back kills making it 17-7. Norah Riedesel added an ace the Titans raced to a 25-10 win for the sweep.
Jayci Graeve led the Titans with 9 kills with Brenna McAlister and Mollie Monahan both finishing with 6 kills. Norah Riedesel added 23 assists and tied with Alexa Holm for the team lead with 3 aces. Holm added 8 digs with Jayci Graeve with 5 digs. Brenna McAlister, Hayden Berquist and Macie Dorman all had 2 aces and Mollie Monahan added 2 blocks.
The Titans are off until they travel to East Sac next Thursday.

Glidden-Ralston swept three sets on the road at Paton-Churdan against a young Rocket team. Glidden-Ralston came out aggressive against Paton-Churdan in the first set and built a 10-4 lead. Coming out of a time-out, the Rockets were able to cut it to 13-10, but that was the closest the set would get as the Wildcats would go on to win 25-15. In set one, Lauren Klocke went on a great serving run where she picked up three straight aces and had six total in the set. Glidden-Ralston subbed in new bodies in the second set but still came away with a 25-8 win in set two to take a 2-0 lead over Paton-Churdan. Kassidy Wenck recorded two kills in set two, and Ashlynn Tigges picked up two kills and an ace in the set win. Much like the first two sets. The third set was tied at 2-2, and then Paton-Churdan had to close at 13-7, but the Wildcats would go on to win 25-13 and 3-0 over the Rockets.
As a team, Glidden-Ralston picked up 12 aces as Paton-Churdan struggled on serve receive. Addy Boell, who has been excellent at the setter position this year for the Wildcats, led the team in assists with seven. Boell also recorded three kills for Glidden-Ralston. Kaitlyn Malcom led the team in kills with four. Nine different Glidden-Ralston players recorded a kill. Grace Cullum led the Rockets in kills with four. Kaliyah Minnehan picked up an ace and four digs.
With the win, Glidden-Ralston improves to 15-2 and 4-2 in the Rolling Valley Conference. The loss drops Paton-Churdan to 0-8 and 0-6 in conference play. The Wildcats are back in action on Saturday at Riverside for a tournament. The Rocket’s next match comes up on Tuesday against Woodbine.

East Sac hit .342 while rolling to a 3-0 sweep at Sioux Central on Thursday, improving to 21-6 overall and 9-0 in the Twin Lakes Conference. The Raiders cruised in sets one and three, allowing a total of 19-points but had to battle in set two as the Rebels stayed close, falling 25-20. The Raiders had six girls finish with at least 2 kills, ending with 36 as a team to go with only 9 errors. They played 13 girls, getting at least a dig or ace from everyone that played.
Jen Aschinger led the Raiders back row with 15 digs while Kate Vondrak was strong in every aspect of the match, finishing with 10 kills along with 16 assists, 5 digs and 2 blocks. Addisen Ehler continues her strong season with 13 kills along with 6 digs and 3 blocks. Jordin Carroll added 10 assists while Kenna Meyer had 4 aces. Kamryn Ross had 5 kills to go with 2 blocks.
The Raiders host South Central Calhoun next Thursday.

The Coon Rapids-Bayard Crusaders struggled on the road against Woodbine Thursday night. The first set was back and forth, but after that set, everything went downhill as CRB was swept 3-0. The first set was the closest, but Woodbine came away with a 25-21 win over the Crusaders. Woodbine cruised in the following two sets, winning set two 25-14 and set three 25-11.
Malia Clayburg led the Crusaders in kills as she picked up six of the team’s 12. Aubrey Hofbauer was second on the team in kills with two. Ella Heithoff recorded a team-high four assists. Hofbauer led the team in blocks as she picked up three. CRB also picked up six aces, and Hofbauer recorded three of them.
Due to the loss, CRB’s record dropped to 8-13 and 3-3 in the Rolling Valley Conference. The Crusaders are back in action on Tuesday against CAM.

Ar-We-Va battled hard, showing good improvement as they pushed the Spartans in sets one and two. Exira-EHK had a strong night at the net, hitting .558 which allowed them to hold off the Rockets in the first-two sets, then pull away in set three. Ar-We-Va finished with 15 kills, with eight girls having at least 1.
Delaney Schurke had a strong night in the back row with 19 digs, she added a pair of aces. Amber Ragaller finished the match with 14 assists, 7 digs and 3 aces. Annalee Wittrock led the Rockets with 4 kills with Trista Reis adding 5 digs and Morgan Berg finishing with 2 aces.
The loss drops the Rockets to 1-15 overall and 1-6 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They head to Glidden Ralston on Tuesday.

The IKM-Manning Wolves were swept Thursday night against AHSTW despite each set getting closer in score. The longer the match went on IKM-Manning played better. The first set was all AHSTW as they jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a 25-14 win over IKM-Manning. The Wolves adjusted in the second set but still lost 25-18 to AHSTW. The third set was the best of the night as it was back and forth, but AHSTW walked away with a 25-23 victory and a 3-0 match win over the Wolves.
Karlee Arp, Addisyn Bandow, and Megan Williams each recorded four kills for IKM-Manning. Abby Wanser was second on the team in kills with three. IKM-Manning recorded two blocks as a team, with Bandow and Wanser each picking up one. Anna Stangl led the team in digs with 16. The Wolves recorded five aces, with three coming from Stangl. The loss drops IKM-Manning to 2-12 and 0-6 in conference play. The Wolves are back in action on Saturday at the Tri-Center tournament.
