The Raiders kept battling back, until they ran out of innings, falling in the opening round of the Class 2A postseason on Saturday. The game was scoreless through 2 innings, though both teams had a chance to score early. The Indians left a pair of runners on base in the 1st inning while the Raiders loaded the bases with 1-out in the 2nd and weren’t able to score as Pocahontas Area forced a line drive to shallow centerfield, then a force out at 2nd base ended the threat. The Cougar broke through in the 3rd innings, scoring 3-runs with some help from the Raiders defense. A leadoff walk to Luke Wernimont and Weston Drost getting hit-by-pitch (1st of 3 times) sparked the Raiders in the top 4th. Landon Sporrer walked to load the bases and Luke Wright singled to score Wernimont. Carter Erritt flew out to centerfield but scored Drost and East Sac was within a run, going bottom 4th. The Wheels fell off for the Raiders in the 4th. Pocahontas Area batted 10 guys, scoring 6-runs with 3 hits, including a 2-run home run from Hunter Trewyn. The Raiders looked like they were in trouble but they didn’t quit fighting. Jack Gullett singled to start the 5th and Karter Ludwig reached on an error. Luke Wernimont doubled to score a both guys, then scored on a Indian error. Carter Erritt picked up his second RBI of the game with a groundout, scoring Weston Drost, who was hit-by-pitch. The Indians got a run back in the bottom 5th and lead 10-6. Bradyn Burns singled and scored on a groundout by Jack Gullett and the Raiders were in business, down 3. Pocahontas Area added 4 insurance runs in the bottom 6th. The Raiders got their leadoff batter on in the 7th but went down in order after to end the game.
Luke Wernimont had a double, driving in a pair of runs and scored twice. Weston Drost scored a pair of runs and Carter Erritt drove in 2 runs. Jack Gullett and Luke Wright each added an RBI. Weston Drost went 3+ innings, allowing 4 hits and 2 earned runs.
The Raiders end the season at 3-15.

Things didn’t look good for South Central Calhoun early, falling behind 8-0 after 2 innings, but they kept competing and didn’t allow a run and only five baserunners over the final 4 innings. Manson NW Webster took advantage of nerves by a young Titan team early, scoring 4 times in the 1st inning on no hits. The Titans only had 1 error but the Cougars worked a pair of walks and two hit-by-pitches and were able to get on base on a dropped third strike, scoring on the play and having the batter end up on 3rd base. A pair of walks and a pair of untimely errors in the 2nd inning extended the inning for the Cougars, who used a single and a double to score 4-runs in the 2nd inning to lead 8-0. Andrew Anderson had 5 strikeouts through the first-two innings. The Titans offense got a runner on 1st base in each of the first-two innings but had both guys picked off. The Titans broke through in the 4th inning. Brock Nattress singled and scored on a double by Charlie Nattress. They posted another run in the 5th. Keegan Soard tripled with 1-out and scored on a ground out by Caleb Gaffney. The final Titan run came in the 6th. Brock Nattress walked and scored on a balk, after moving to 3rd on a Cougar error. Keegan Soard singled in the 7th and Khyean Hawkins was hit-by-pitch but the Raiders weren’t able to score and fell 8-3. Carson Shaver pitched the final 1 2/3 in relief of Andrew Anderson and was very effective striking out 4 of the 7 batters he faced.
Keegan Soard had a pair of hits with a triple and scored a run. Brock Nattress singled and scored twice while Charlie Nattress doubled, driving in a run. Andrew Anderson took the loss, striking out 10 in 4 1/3 innings, allowing 4 earned runs with 5 walks and 4 hit-by-pitches. Carson Shaver went 1 2/3 innings, striking out 4.
The Titans season comes to an end at 3-15.

A tough defensive night did in the Wheelers, committing 10 errors, allowing 4 unearned runs. Both teams finished with 4-hits but the Warriors didn’t make any errors and only walked 3 Wheeler batters while Alta-Aurelia drew 4 walks and was hit-by-pitch twice. The Warriors grabbed the lead in the 3rd inning, scoring 3-runs. They pushed the lead to 7-0 with a 4-run 4th inning.
Aaron Olsen, Evan Alt, Brody Schultes and Ely Jorgensen all had hits for the Wheelers. Gavin Larsen went 4 innings, allowing 3 hits and 3 earned runs with 4 strikeouts.
The Wheelers finish the season at 5-19.

Ar-We-Va showed their youth early, allowing 3 unearned runs on 3 errors in the 1st inning, falling behind 5-0. The defense improved from there on and Blayne Smith pitched well, keeping the ball around the strike zone. Woodbury Central added a run in the 2nd and 3rd inning, then scored a pair of runs in the 6th inning.
