Kuemper remained perfect in the Hawkeye 10 Conference with a steady win on Friday night, sweeping the season series with Atlantic. The Knights never trailed and were only tied early at 2. Kuemper shot the ball well from the field, hitting 43.8% from behind the arc and 51.2% from inside the arc. They led by 7 at the end of the 1st quarter and built the lead to 11 by half. Atlantic kept playing hard, making small runs to keep themselves in striking distance. The Knights led by 10 or more the entire 2nd half.
Carson Kanne was aggressive getting to the rim early, putting Kuemper up 2-0 and 6-2. Dawson Gifford scored to put Kuemper up 8-2, then Kanne scored again and the lead was 10-4. Michael Kasperbauer took over from there as the Knights guards were able to get dribble penetration. Kasperbauer scored 6 of the Knights next 8 points, extending the lead to 18-7. Atlantic responded with a 6-0 run, making it 18-13 but Carter Putney knocked down a 3 and Kuemper was back in control. Putney added a bucket before the end of the 1st quarter and Kuemper led 23-16 heading to the 2nd quarter. Michael Kasperbauer and Carson Kanne scored again for Kuemper to open the 2nd quarter and Kuempe led 27-18. Atlantic cut it to 30-22 but missed a free throw and the Knights took advantage with a bucket from Evan Adams, followed by a Kaspebauer two. The Trojans again pulled within 8, but Carter Putney hit a 3, then a 2 and the Knights were up 41-30 at the break.
The Knights used a 7-2 spurt to open the 2nd half and never allowed Atlantic to pull within single digits the rest of the game. Dawson Gifford and DJ Vonnahme had a run of points in the 3rd, making it a 16-point lead.
The win is the 9th straight for Kuemper, improving them to 9-1 overall and 4-0 in the Hawkeye 10. They host East Sac on KIKD 106.7 on Saturday.

Carroll High erupted into a sea of cheers Friday night as the Carroll Tigers downed the Carlisle Wildcats in a wild game.
The fireworks went off from the start with both teams going point for point in the first quarter. Carroll would grab a bucket and Carlisle took it the other way for a bucket of their own, eventually leading to a 17 point tie. In the second quarter, it was much of the same with both teams matching the other in points. Ryan Peterson for Carlisle was able to give the Wildcats the momentum heading into the locker room with a last second shot from the left elbow. Carroll was able to get the slight edge with Tanner Gotto getting a steal and a layup to give the Tigers the 32-31 lead at halftime. Gotto was one of four players for Carroll to put up double-digit points.
The second half started off with Carlisle gaining the momentum and started to inch away from Carroll. Despite the Tigers staying close to Carlisle throughout the third quarter, the Wildcats were able hold a 53-47 lead into the fourth quarter. The final eight minutes were pandemonium with Carroll trying to get back and win it late. Eventually, the Tigers were putting up clutch three point shots while fighting fouls that went against their favor. Carlisle shot two free throws that gave them the 66-65 lead with less than 30 seconds remaining. Bryce Berlau was the savior for the Tigers as he’d hit a big three pointer to give the Tigers the 68-66 lead with less than 15 seconds left. Carlisle inbounded the ball after a timeout and Evan Hammer was able to poke the ball free to allow Carroll to steal the ball and the win with a final score of 68-66.
Berlau led the Tigers in this game with 17 points while Hammer had 16 points, Gotto had 15 points, and Jack White put up 14 points. Hammer was also a defensive machine with three steals and three blocks to lead the Tigers. The win elevates the Tigers to 6-3 overall on the season and 4-3 in the Raccoon River Conference. Carroll is back in action on Tuesday, January 10th when they travel to take on ADM.

Coon Rapids Bayard locked down on defense in the 2nd half, locking down the Wildcats, outscoring them 36-11 to win by 34. Glidden Ralston hung tough early, trailing by 1 after the 1st quarter, and remained in striking distance at half, trailing by 9. The Crusaders exploded for 29-points in the 3rd to go up by 30.
Coon Rapids Bayard had three players in double figures with Cal Heydon leading the way with 26 points along with 8 rebounds. Cade Behrens added 20 points and Lance Clayburg finished with 11 points and 8 rebounds. Parker Hays did a nice job finding open teammates with 7 assists and Kolby Culbertson added 7 rebounds.
Ethan Olberding and Waylon Hein paced the Wildcats offense. Olberding finished with a team high 9 points while Hein added 8 points.
Coon Rapids Bayard improves to 5-4 overall and 3-3 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They host Woodbine on Monday. Glidden Ralston falls to 2-8 overall and 2-5 in the Rolling Valley. They host Ar-We-Va on Tuesday.

IKM-Manning won their 4th straight to improve to 6-3 overall and 3-2 in the Western Iowa Conference. The Wheelers had a 2- game winning streak snapped as they fall to 3-7 overall and 2-6 in the Western Iowa Conference. The Wolves won all four quarters but they were close with the biggest point differential at 5. That allowed them to slowly pull away. They led by 3 at the end of the 1st quarter and were up by 8 at half.
The Wolves were balanced on offense with three players in double figures and a fourth nearly finishing with a double-double. Ben Ramsey led the Wolves with 21 points while Reed Hinners had 14 points and 5 rebounds. Ross Kusel added 10 points and 4 assists with Caden Keller pulling down 10 rebounds and scoring 7 points.
Carson Bauer had a team high 15 points for Audubon and was joined in double figures with 13 points for Edward Miller.
The Wolves will host Underwood on Tuesday while the Wheelers head to Missouri Valley on Monday.

Ar-We-Va put it together on both sides of court on Friday, rolling to a Rolling Valley Conference win. The Rockets used a huge 2nd quarter to blow the game open, outscoring the Bulldogs 28-11 to lead 45-15 at half. They used the momentum from the 2nd half on Thursday to play their best game of the season. Their defensive effort led to buckets on the offensive end.
Only two players scored in double figures but the Rockets had six players score between 8-11 points. Emmett Neumann and Wyatt Ragaller each had 11 points, Ragaller added 9 rebounds and Neumann 6 rebounds. Harley Molina had 9 points and 6 rebounds, Kyelar Cleveland added 9 points and 6 rebounds. Blayne Smith and Wade Ragaller both had 8 points with Smith adding 5 assists.
The Rockets improve to 2-6 overall and 2-5 in the Conference. They travel to Glidden Ralston on Tuesday.

A quick start allowed South Central Calhoun to pick up their 4th straight win in convincing fashion. The Titans scored 22-points in the 1st quarter, building a 15-point led. They stretched the lead over the next three quarters, winning each quarter by a few points. They continue to shoot the ball well, hitting 51.9% from the two-point range and making 7-22 from beyond the arc. They continue to take good care of the ball, with just 7 turnovers, compared to 10 steals.
Eli Wheelock had a team high 14 points with 3 steals. Gavin Batta added 12 points. The Titans got plenty of help off the bench with Cole Higgins and Bryce Berquist each scoring 8 points and Bryan Steig finishing with 7 points.
South Central Calhoun improves to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the Twin Lakes Conference. They travel to South Hamilton on Saturday.

East Sac nearly rallied back after a tough 3rd quarter put them in a hole in a good defensive game for both teams. The Raiders trailed early but rallied in the 2nd quarter to lead at half. They trailed by 6 heading into the final stanza, going up 39-38 late. Emmetsburg scored their only points of the quarter with 14 seconds remaining. They scored a bucket, adding a free throw to go up 2. East Sac was not able to a shot to fall and dropped a tough game a home.
Brody Boeckman got the offense humming in the 2nd quarter with a pair of threes. That helped the Raiders lead 24-20 at half. Turnovers to start the 3rd quarter led to trouble as Emmetsburg rallied, taking the lead off some buckets from Sean Europa. The Raiders began to rally in the 4th and Boeckman hit a three, then made a steal and found Karter Ludwig for a layup, putting the Raiders up. East Sac turned the ball over with 50 seconds left, leading to a bucket for Emmetsburg where they added a free throw. The Raiders had a good look for a three late but weren’t able to score.
East Sac falls to 2-4 overall and 0-3 in the Twin Lakes Conference. They head to Kuemper on Saturday on KIKD 106.7.
