The Spartans were in control the entire game on Tuesday but Griswold kept battling back to make it close until midway through the 4th quarter. Exira-EHK built a 17-3 lead midway through the 1st quarter but the Tigers hit back-to-back 3’s and were down 19-9 at the end of the 1st quarter. The lead grew to 27-12 midway through the 2nd quarter but Griswold fought back again, cutting  it to 27-15 before the Spartans closed the half on a 6-1 run. The Spartans scored quickly to start the 3rd but only scored 2-points in the first 3:08 of the 3rd quarter and Griswold pulled within 35-22 and made it 39-27 late in the 3rd. The Spartans closed the quarter on a 6-0 run and never allowed the Tigers within less than 15 the rest of the game.

Harlow Miller was incredible in the 1st half with 9-points and 10 rebounds, scoring to put the Spartans up 2-0. After a Tigers basket tied it the Spartans went on a 15-1 run to lead 17-3. Riley Miller scored inside and Taryn Petersen hit a three for five quick points and Brooklyn Brabham had a great drive and layup. Taryn Petersen added another bucket and Harlow Miller scored inside, making it 13-3. Back-to-back baskets by Jaelynn Petersen pushed the lead to 17-3 but Griswold responded with a pair of 3’s and trailed 19-9 heading to the 2nd quarter. Jaelynn Petersen scored to start the 2nd quarter and Harlow Miller added an offensive rebound and putback. After a Tigers three, Taryn Petersen and Harlow Miller went back-to-back and the lead was 27-12. Miller added three straight points, making it 30-15. A Zoey Rasmussen three pushed it to 33-15 and the Spartans looked to be separating themselves. A Tigers three before the end of the half made it a 33-18 halftime lead.

The Spartans scored to start the 3rd but three straight from Griswold made it 35-22 before Taryn Petersen and Riley Miller combined to make it 39-25. Exira-EHK only scored 2-points in the first 3:08 of the 3rd quarter but their defense was good enough to keep the lead in double digits. Taryn Petersen and Zoey Rasmussen made six straight free throws and the Spartans led 45-27 going to the 4th. A quick Tigers three started the 4th but Taryn Petersen answered with a three-point play and Exira-EHK began to pull away with Kadence Brannan Sporrer making a pair of free throws and Jaelynn Petersen adding a bucket before Riley Miller scored four straight points. The Spartans rolled in the 4th quarter, winning 57-33.

It was a great team win for Exira-EHK with several girls having big games. Taryn Petersen had a team high 18-points, 5 assists and 7 steals. Kadence Brannan Sporrer added 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 8 steals, Jaelynn Petersen and Harlow Miller both just missed double-doubles with Jaelynn having 10-points, 9 rebounds and Harlow scoring 9-points with 15 rebounds. Riley Miller added 7-points and Zoey Rasmussen pulled down 5 rebounds.

The Spartans won their 20th straight to move to 20-1 and will host CAM on KIKD 106.7 on Friday.

Glidden-Ralston at IKM-Manning – Class 1A Region 1

Glidden-Ralston survived a very physical game against IKM-Manning on Tuesday night. The Wildcats beat Paton-Churdan and the Wolves beat Ar-We-Va to get to the second round of the Class 1A Region 1 postseason. The first quarter was super tight as both teams went back and forth offensively. IKM-M had a press on, and Glidden-Ralston was able to find open looks as there were 4 lead changes and 4 ties, but Glidden-Ralston went on a run capped off by a Jenna Subbert 3 at the buzzer, to have the Wildcats up 17-9 after the first. The second quarter was just as physical, with both teams combining for 38 free throws. IKM-Manning got back into a two-possession game as they trailed 25-19. The Wolves got to the line a bunch, and Anna Stangl had 11 of their 19 in the quarter to lead 38-30 heading into the final period. The Wolves held the Wildcats at bay for a while until the two-minute period, when Chloe Peters knocked down a deep three to lead by two. The Wolves had their answer as Anna Stangl hit an and-1 and got the free-throw to lead 46-45. Glidden-Ralston closed the game on a 10-1 run to win 55-47. There were 43 combined fouls and 66 combined free throws. Glidden-Ralston moves on to Newell-Fonda on Friday night.

Coon Rapids-Bayard picked up a huge win in their first postseason game of the 2026 season. The Crusaders play hardball defense as they press, and they can run both man and zone which led to 4 single-digit scoring quarters. The Crusaders led 17-3 off of an 8-0 run and 7-0 run in the first. The Crusaders led 29-12 at the halftime break as Malia Clayburg had a good game at the break with 14 points. The Crusaders held Southeast Warren scoreless in the 3rd and would pick up a 54-20 win at home. They advance to the regional semifinal on Friday.

South Central Calhoun competed hard on the road on Tuesday in their first round game. They were able to find some offense in the 1st quarter with Macie Dorman and Sadie Wheelock carrying some of the early load. They trailed 17-11 going to the 2nd quarter when MMCRU was able to separate a little. The Titans trailed 30-18 at half and were still in the game. The offense struggled in the 3rd quarter, similar to the 2nd quarter and the Royals pushed the lead to 45-25, holding the Titans to 7-points. South Central Calhoun didn’t quit in the 4th, finding some groove on the offensive end, but they weren’t able to cut into the deficit much and fell 58-36.

Sadie Wheelock had a strong game inside with 12-points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocked shots. Macie Dorman added 13-points and 3 assists and Blair Schleisman finished with 8-points and 4 assists.

The Titans end their season at 8-14.
