Boys State Qualifying Results Saturday, February 14th 

Carroll and Kuemper At Sergeant Bluff Luton- Class 2A District 8

Carroll advances five wrestlers to State with Kuemper advancing two as they wrestled in Sergeant Bluff Luton on Saturday. Carroll went 26-16 in matches wrestled, taking 3rd place with 187-points. Kuemper was 10-12 in matches wrestled, finishing in 6th place with 66-points. The Tigers had 18 wins by fall, 2 tech falls, 2 major decisions and 4 decisions. Kuemper ended the day with 7 wins by fall, a major decision and 2 decisions.

Carroll had three champions with Caden Klocke winning at 175, going 2-0 with a fall and a decision, Quinten Polking went 2-0 at 215 with both wins by fall and Gavin Holt finished 2-0 at 285 with both of his wins by fall. Carroll also qualified Carson Tedrow at 120, going 2-1 with a pair of tech falls, finishing in 2nd place and Kieran Polking, who took 2nd at 190 pounds, going 1-1 with his win by fall.

Kuemper will send a pair of 2nd place finishers with Beckett Wernimont at 113, going 1-1 with a decision and Maguire Hoyt finishing 2-1 at 132 with a fall and a major decision.

South Central Calhoun At Riverside- Class 1A District 9

South Central Calhoun took 3rd at Riverside on Saturday, qualifying five wrestlers to the State Tournament. They scored 148-points, going 19-17 in matches wrestled with 17 wins by fall and 2 by decision.

Karson Wuebker and Jace Pedersen both went 2-0 with all four of their combined wins by fall. Wuebker won his two matches in a combined 0:35, winning the 106-pound weight class with Pedersen winning the 285-pound class. Curtis Bullock went 2-1 at 120-pounds, finishing in 2nd with both wins by fall. Cooper Nattress at 190 and Kase Kraft at 113, both went 1-1 with their win by fall and both took 2nd place.

Audubon, Coon Rapids-Bayard, and East Sac at Class 1A District 8

It was an exciting day at Ridge View as 3 of the 10 teams at the Class 1A District 8 came from our local teams. 10 total kids from the 3 teams made the state meet: 4 from Audubon, 2 from East Sac, and 4 from Coon Rapids-Bayard. Audubon took 2nd with 140.5 team points. Coon Rapids-Bayard finished 5th with 113 team points, and East Sac took 8th with 47.5 team points.

Audubon had Leyton Elmquist win the 113 bracket, going 3-0 with a fall and a decision. Karter Obermieier took 2nd in the 150 bracket with a TF and a fall. Jon Rasmussen took 2nd in the 138 bracket with two TF and a DEC win. Lane Meyer rounded out the group with a 3-0 and 3 fall performance at 285.

Coon Rapids-Bayard sent Caleb Hoffman, who looked impressive as he went 3-0 with a win by fall and an MD. Johnny Cortez would make his first appearance at the state with 2 falls on the day. Treynor Cose would win 165 with a fall and an MD. Ethan Bauer would round out the Crusaders with a 1-1 record and a fall.

East Sac would get Cal McCollough in as he went 2-1 with a fall and an MD. Dawson Allen battled back in after an opening round loss to Treynor Cose. Allen won 3 straight with a TF, fall, and Dec.
