Carroll had chances on Monday, getting a couple players back in the lineup after a couple games with different lineups. They competed hard all game and was in the game entering the 4th quarter. Gilbert knocked down some deep shots, taking advantage of a few Tigers turnovers, extending their lead. Carroll led at the end of the 1st quarter as Ali Kock and Chloe Kock came out aggressive. They led 16-11 at the end of the 1st quarter and were tied 28-28 at half. Gilbert edged in front in the 3rd as Carroll struggled from deep, hitting 4-19 from three-point range. The Tigers defensive pressure couldn’t force any Gilbert turnovers or bad shots and when they did Gilbert helped themselves, outrebounding Carroll 13-7 on the offensive glass. Carroll trailed 43-40 entering the final stanza but a few turnovers, 13 for the game allowed Gilbert, which shot 11-36 from three to extend their lead as they hit several 3’s down the stretch.
Ali Kock had a game high for Carroll with 20-points to go with 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Chloe Kock added 15-points, 5 rebounds and 3 blocked shots. Analia Ayala had 6 rebounds and Bella Lu added 5 rebounds.
Carroll falls to 5-15 and will head to North Polk on Tuesday.

Kuemper had to fight hard on Monday to earn a win and set up a conference championship showdown with St Albert at the Casey’s Center on Tuesday. The Knights struggled from the field, hitting only 33% from 2-point range and 18% from beyond the arc. The offense finished the game at 25% from the field as whole. The defense had to step up late to keep the Knights in front as Creston trailed by three entering the final stanza. Kuemper dominated the boards, out rebounding Creston 42-26 with 20 of the Knights rebounds coming on the offensive end. Kuemper trailed entering the 2nd quarter but settled in and led 22-19 at half, after outscoring Creston 15-8 in the 2nd quarter. The 2nd half was a fight with Kuemper edging Creston 28-27 to hold on for the win.
Charlotte Hackfort was huge for Kuemper, finishing with teams highs of 14-points and 9 rebounds. Hackfort was 4-10 from three. Alivia Schenkelberg went for 12-points and 7 rebounds. Elsa Tiefenthaler gave Kuemper three players in double figures, scoring 11-points with 5 rebounds. Addy Anthofer added 7-points and 7 rebounds and Morgan Masching added 8 rebounds.
The Knights are 15-4 overall and heading into a clash with St Albert on Tuesday with both teams undefeated in the Hawkeye 10. The winner claims the conference crown.

Paton Churdan held on to win against Ar-We-Va for the second time in a month, earning a hard fought win in a physical game in which Ar-We-Va kept coming after Paton Churdan, who never trailed again after taking a 10-9 lead. Paton Churdan took a 5-0 lead but Ar-We-Va responded with three in a row to end the 1st quarter down 5-3. Ar-We-Va used a 6-0 run in the 2nd quarter to take their first lead of the game at 9-7 before Paton Churdan edged ahead, thanks to the free throw line. Paton Churdan led 14-11 at half before extending it to 22-14 in the 3rd. The lead grew to 11 in the 3rd but Ar-We-Va closed within 36-30 late before Paton Churdan sealed the game with a bucket from Kaliyah Minnihan.
Alivya Smith started the game with a three for Paton Churdan, which was followed by a basket by Ella Tasler. Paton Churdan was in charge early as Ar-We-Va didn’t score until the final minute of the quarter. Halli McCollough drained a free throw and Mara Obrecht knocked down a mid-range jumper as Ar-We-Va pulled within 5-3. An Ella Tasler basket gave Paton Churdan a 7-3 lead but back-to-back 3’s from Gabby Hundling and Mara Obrecht gave Ar-We-Va the 9-7 lead. Paton Churdan responded, getting three straight free throws from Edynn Smith, taking the lead back at 10-9. An Ella Tasler bucket held Paton Churdan lead 14-11 at the end of the 1st half.
Ar-We-Va started the 2nd half strong with Mara Obrecht hitting a three, tying the game at 14. Eddy Smith scored for Paton Churdan, which battled hard, not giving up the lead. Paton Churdan took advantage at the free throw line, stretching the lead to 22-14 on a three from Kaliyah Minnihan. Holly Miller pushed the Paton Churdan lead to 25-16. Mara Obrehct had a three, cutting the deficit to 25-19 and a bucket to make it 28-21. Maddie Leiting hit a late three for Ar-We-Va and they had pulled within 36-30 but Paton Churdan had too much with Kaliyan Minnihan, Edynn Smith and Ella Tasler all scoring down the stretch for Paton Churdan.
Ella Talser had a strong all-around game with 10-points and 6 rebounds. Edynn Smith and Kaliyah Minnihan both had 8-points with Alivya Smith adding 7-points and 6 rebounds. Edynn Smith added 4 steals.
Mara Obrecht had a game high 16-points to go with 6 rebounds. Gabbie Hundling added 6-points with Aubrie McCollough had 8 rebounds and 3 steals.
Paton Churdan heads to Glidden Ralston for Regionals on Thursday while Ar-We-Va will travel to IKM-Manning.

The Spartans closed out the regular season with their 19th straight win, cruising at Woodbine after taking a 17-4 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. They established Jaelynn Petersen inside in the 1st half and were able to knock 4-3’s in the 1st half so the Tigers couldn’t focus solely on the inside game. Exira-EHK built a 35-18 lead at half as Woodbine found more success offensively in the 2nd quarter. The Spartans kept attacking inside in the 2nd half with Jaelynn Petersen scoring four more buckets in the lane and Harlow Miller adding her three made baskets. They extended their lead to 51-28 heading to the 4t quarter and were able to salt the game away with a strong defensive effort, holding Woodbine to 7-points in the final stanza.
Jaelynn Petersen had a team high 23-points with Taryn Petersen adding 19-points and Harlow Miller 8-points.
The Spartans are 19-1 on the season and will have a bye in the opening round of Regionals. Their next game is Tuesday, February 17th.

MVAOCOU used a big 2nd quarter to stretch a small lead at the end of the 2nd quarter and pull away for the win. The Wolves did a nice job inside but it was a tough night shooting the ball from three. They went 0-11 from deep, finishing the game at 30% from the field overall. Their inside game allowed them to get to the free throw line but they shot 13-24. The Rams led 14-10 at the end of the 1st quarter but went up 38-23 at half. IKM-Manning tried to battle back in the 3rd, scoring 17-points, but they were unable to close the gap.
The Wolves had three girls in double figures with Anna Stangl leading the way with 15-points and 6 rebounds. Keagan Eischeid added 12-points, 6 rebounds and 6 blocked shots while Addisyn Bandow finished with 10-points.
The Wolves end the regular season 9-12 and will host Ar-We-Va on Thursday in Class 1A Region 1.

Glidden Ralston rolled to their 12th win this season, jumping out to a 23-9 lead to end the 1st quarter and led 42-21 at half. The Wildcats shared the ball very well, finishing with 19 assists. They controlled the boards as well with 14 offensive rebounds and 20 defensive rebounds, though Storm Lake St Mary’s did have 11 offensive rebounds. They did most of their damage in the lane in the 1st half with only one three-pointer made. Chloe Peters and Allison Snyder were instrumental in the 1st half. Everyone got involved in the 2nd half with the Wildcats outscoring Storm Lake St Mary’s 28-17.
Glidden Ralston had four players in double figures, nearly having a fifth. Chloe Peters paced the offense with 19-points along with 4 assists and 2 blocked shots. Olivia Squibb, Bryn Renze and Allison Snyder all had 10-points with Renze adding 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Jenna Subbert had a terrific all-around game with 9-points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals.
The Wildcats head into Regional play on Thursday, hosting Paton Churdan.

Coon Rapids-Bayard won a fun game over CAM on Monday. It was senior night and the Crusaders had 8 seniors who would be recognized on Monday. The Crusaders started out on a 7-0 run with two buckets from Ella Heithoff and one from Anna Hart. The game would flip with CAM closing the quarter on a 9-2 run to tie the game up after 1. The Crusaders defense was suffocating as they held CAM to 4 points in the 2nd quarter and the Crusaders led 24-13 at the halftime break. The third was very slow as well with both teams playing solid defense. The Crusaders closed out the game with a 42-31 win at home. Malia Clayburg and Anna Hart both led the Crusaders with 10 points.
