Boys District Swimming Results Saturday, February 7th
Carroll At Ames
The Carroll boys had their best day, maybe in the history of their swim program at the State qualifying meet on Saturday. They set four new school records and broke two Ames pool record while qualifying two relays and five individuals in four individual events. The Tigers finished 4th with 252-points, behind only Dowling, Boone and Ames. Every swim for Carroll on Saturday was a personal best.
Teagen Renze broke the Ames pool record in the 200 Free, winning the event in 1:39.77, qualifying for State. That was the start of a landslide of success for a talented Tigers team. Leegan Sease won the 200 IM in 1:53.05, breaking the Ames pool record and the School Record at Carroll. Landen Cadwell finished 6th as he joined Sease in qualifying for State. Teagen Renze came back in his next event, taking 2nd in the 100 Free, swimming a 45.06, breaking the Carroll School Record while qualifying for State. Carroll sent their first relay of the day to State, taking 4th in the 200 Free Relay in 1:27.97, setting a new school record with Teagen Renze, Weston Toft, Landen Cadwell and Leegan Sease. Carroll also broke the school record in the 400 Free Relay, swimming a 3:16.29 with Weston Toft, Landen Cadwell, Leegan Sease and Teagen Renze. They finished in 2nd and qualified for State. Between the two qualifying relays, Leegan Sease won the 100 Breast, qualifying for State in 56.37. Leegan Sease was named Co-District Swimmer of the Year.
Renze enters the State Meet as the top seed in the 200 Free with Sease the 2nd seed in the 200 IM and the 3rd seed in the 100 Breast. Teagen Renze is the 3rd seed in the 100 Free and Landen Cadwell is seeded 21st in the 200 IM. Carroll is seeded 12th in the 200 Free Relay and 9th in the 400 Free Relay.
The State Swim Meet gets underway with preliminary rounds on Friday and the finals on Saturday.
