Carroll struggled from the floor on Saturday while Denison Schleswig shot the ball well as the Monarchs earned their second win of the season. The Tigers went 6-34 from three and 11-59 from the field, shooting 18.6% overall. Denison Schleswig attacked the lane more, hitting 37.5% from the field, going 5-11 from three, compared to 6-34 for Carroll. The Tigers showed a burst of energy to start the 3rd quarter but Denison Schleswig managed the Tigers run, then extended their halftime lead to 40-25 heading to the final stanza.

Analia Ayala tied the game at 2, the only time the game was tied. The Monarchs went on a 6-0 run to lead 8-2. Sadie Kelly hit a three to pull Carroll within 8-5. Aubrie Schmitt Hubbard dropped in a free throw moments later and Carroll was down 10-6 to start the 2nd quarter. Another Sadie Kelly three, pulled Carroll within 12-9 early in  the 2nd quarter but another 6-0 Monarchs run, extended the lead to 18-9. Jersey Sporrer cut it to 18-11 before Denison Schleswig went on a 7-0 run and led 25-11 late in the half.

Chloe Kock made a free throw to start the 2nd half and Analia Ayala drained a three and Carroll pulled within 29-20. Analia Ayala kept them within striking distance at 31-22 but a 6-0 Monarchs run put the Tigers chances in jeopardy. The Monarchs played with a lot of energy and confidence in the 3rd quarter. Bella Lu hit a bucket and Willow Feld made a free throw but Carroll trailed  40-25 to start the 4th quarter. Carroll had a 5-0 run in the 4th quarter with Sadie Kelly, Willow Feld and Bella Lu scoring but weren’t able to get the game into single digits.

Sadie Kelly hustled all over the floor on Saturday, leading Carroll with 5 steals, creating several turnovers with hustle plays as well. She added a team high 11-points. Analia Ayala had 10-points and 5 rebounds, Chloe Kock had 7 rebounds and 3 blocks and Willow Feld showed she could have a strong future with 4 steals.

Carroll falls to 5-14 and will host Gilbert on Monday.
