Carroll competed hard all night but struggled to score at times against Ballard’s length. The Bombers full and half court pressure led to some turnovers and easy baskets in transition. The Tigers attacked the basket well, getting to the free throw line eight times in the 1st quarter. They hung tough early, down 19-15 after the 1st quarter. The 2nd quarter is where the troubles started for the offense. They scored 5-points in the 2nd with Landon Petersen hitting a shot from three-quarter court just before half to pull Carroll within 32-20. Trey Tassell hit a three to open the 3rd quarter but the Tigers weren’t able to cut the gap and Ballard got some of those transition baskets and led 50-32 going to the 4th quarter. Carroll played good defense, holding a team that averages 73-points per game to 58 and held Evan Abbott 10-points below his average. Lual Tharjiath ended the game with 5 blocked shots and did a nice job blocking shots around the rim and rebounding, finishing with 12 rebounds.

Jared Mohr led Carroll from the point guard role with 12-points while Tallon Crandall had 6 rebounds in his first career start. Trey Tassell chipped in with 9-points.

The Tigers fell to 14-4 overall and will host Denison Schleswig on Saturday afternoon.

Kuemper earned another comfortable win as they remain atop the Hawkeye 10 Conference standings. The Knights used a big 2nd quarter and a dominant 3rd quarter to put some separation against the Mustangs. Shenandoah trailed 15-10 at the end of the 1st quarter and were down 36-25 at half. Kuemper took charge with a 23-point 3rd quarter, putting the game on ice.

Ryan Clair had a game high 21-points with 7 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. Griffin Glynn added 16-points and Jack Badding had a strong game with 14-points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 of the Knights 7 blocked shots. Dylan Schon scored 8-points and Teddy Perkins added 7-points.

The Knights sit 17-3 overall heading into Tuesday’s game against St Albert at the Casey’s Center.

Audubon won their third in a row and fifth of their last six games, using a big 2nd half to roll past the Panthers. The Wheelers trailed 31-20 at half before exploding for 24-points in the 3rd quarter. The run started with their defense, holding the Panthers to 5-points. They led 44-36 heading to the final stanza and didn’t let off the gas, running away from the Panthers with a 20-7 advantage in the 4th quarter. The Wheelers did a lot of their damage in the 2nd half from the free throw line, hitting 12-16 attempts. They were attacking the rim and getting offensive rebounds. Their defense held the Panthers to four made baskets in the 2nd half, three from 2-point range and one from deep. The Wheelers created 15 turnovers, leading to easier buckets and pulled down 9 rebounds.

Austin Christensen had a big game with 16-points, 10 rebounds and 4 steals while Jorgen Nowatzke had 16-points, 5 rebounds and 5 steals. Brody Schultes had a team high 19-points with 3 steals.

They improved to 12-8 overall and will host AHSTW on Tuesday.

South Central Calhoun won for the third time in their last four games and did so with a great defensive effort. The Titans held Manson NW Webster in single digits in all four quarters, including 2-points in the 3rd quarter. They didn’t put the game away until the 2nd half, outscoring the Cougars 11-2 in the 3rd to lead 33-16.

The Titans improved to 10-9 overall and will host East Sac on Tuesday.

Early foul trouble put the Rockets in a hole they tried to battle back from but came up short on the road. Due to the foul trouble, Paton Churdan had to play zone and Woodbine shot the ball well from outside. The Tigers took advantage of the foul and built a 31-16 lead at half. The Rockets fought back in the 2nd half, getting some of their players back on the court. They outscored the Tigers 23-19 in the 3rd but still trailed 50-39 heading to the final stanza.

Trevon Keely had a team high 15-points with Donavan Martin having a  nice game with 13-points and 7 rebounds. Phoenix Hart added 10-points and Blaise Schilling ended with 5 rebounds.

The loss drops the Rockets to 7-14 overall as they prepare to head to AWV on Monday.

IKM-Manning had the game slip away in the 4th quarter on the road, getting outscored 24-6 after leading 55-43 entering the final stanza. The Wolves controlled the first-three quarters but wore down and the Viking began to hit shots. AHSTW was able to knock down free throws down the stretch to hold off the Wolves. IKM-Manning appeared to be in charge at half, up 41-28.

Wyatt Danner had a nice game for the Wolves, leading them with 21-points, 5 assists and 3 steals. Ben Ramsey added 13-points and 6 assists and Ashton Ahrenholtz added 12-points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals. Tyson Smith ended up with 11-points.

The Wolves fall to 11-8 and will head to Audubon on  Thursday.

East Sac fell on the road to Southeast Valley on Friday. The Raiders came in at 4-13 and looked to knock off one of the better teams in the Twin lakes. The Raiders kept up with the Jaguars and tied it at 10-10 after the first quarter. The Raiders remained close as they trailed 24-20 going into the break. The Jaguars came out in a full court press which gave the Raiders some trouble and the Jags also hit some threes as they had a 24-7 third quarter. The Raiders had a solid fourth but would end up falling 68-42 on the road. The Raiders fall to 4-14 on the year and have lost 7 straight

Glidden-Ralston fell in a conference matchup with CAM on Friday. The Wildcats and Cougars went back and forth in the first quarter as Carson Peters would score all 15 for Glidden-Ralston with 5 3’s as it was tied heading into the second. Peters would get another bucket in the second before CAM would hit a three and get a dunk late to lead 27-22 heading into the halftime break. Coming out in the third, the Wildcats would fall behind 8 before a Landon and Colton Rohrbeck pair of threes to help the Wildcats trail 37-36 heading into the fourth. Carson Peters opened the quarter with a layup to take the lead but CAM would hit 3 consecutive 3’s and then close out the game with solid defense for a 57-43 win on the road.

Coon Rapids-Bayard picked up a scrappy win over Boyer Valley on Friday night. The #The 6 ranked Crusaders have been on fire in conference matchups as they came in 13-0 and looking to solidify a conference title bid. The Crusaders came out and it was a scrapy game with CRB leading 15-10 after 1. The Crusaders built more of a lead as they led 26-17 after the first half. With a very scrappy game, the Crusaders made adjustments and came out hot in the 3rd to add 27 in that quarter alone. Coon Rapids-Bayard closed out the game with a 65-39 win. Cal Heydon led the Crusaders with 27 points while Ty Heydon added 8 rebounds.
