Girls State Wrestling Results Friday Afternoon Session- Class 2A

Bri Kiger of Carroll finished ahead of where she did last season at the State Wrestling Tournament. She had a rematch of her opening round match against Anya Oatts of Carlisle. The two met for 7th place after Kiger defeated Oatts by fall in the 1st round. Kiger earned one of the rarest wins in wrestling, getting a defensive pin as Oatts tried to set up a cradle. Kiger arched her neck and back, keeping her shoulders off the mat while Oatts shoulders ended up on the mat, giving Kiger the win by fall in 1:01.

Kiger faced a tough test in her 3rd round consolation match against Morgan Krall of Independence. Krall was able to use her length to shield off Kiger and took a 6-1 lead midway into the 2nd period. Kiger closed the period with a flurry, cutting her deficit to 6-4. Krall pushed the lead to 7-4 about 0:30 into the 3rd period and went on to win 10-4, moving Kiger into the 7th place match.

2A-120 Brianna Kiger (18-6) placed 7th and scored 8.0 team points.
