Girls State Qualifying Wrestling Results
Carroll At Spencer- Class 2A Region 7
Carroll is sending four girls to the State Tournament next Thursday and Friday and they are hanging a banner in the gym as Regional Champions. The Tigers went 22-18 in matches wrestled with a champion and three runner-ups. They scored 153.5-points to edge Sioux City North with 152.5- points and Spencer with 147.5-points. The Tigers had twenty wins by fall, a tech fall and a decision. Emma Grossman was their champion, going 3-0 at 190-pounds with all three of her wins by fall. Her championship match lasted 0:25 as she was able to pin Emma Potter of Fort Dodge. Bri Kiger and Maggie Dirkx both went 3-1 with Dirkx earning all three of her wins by fall and Kiger having a pair of wins by fall and a tech fall. They both lost in the championship and fought their way back to a 2nd place finish, qualifying for State. Kiger will go at 120 after winning her 2nd place match by fall and Dirkx will go at 130-pounds, winning her 2nd place match by fall. Emma Daniels is a four-time qualifier, finishing in 2nd place at 235-pounds. Daniels won her semifinal match against the 4th ranked wrestler but fell in the finals. She didn’t have to wrestle back and qualified in 2nd place.

Kuemper At Colfax Mingo- Class 1A Region 2
Lucy Potthoff earned a championship, Sadie Smith and Cara Schuette finished in 2nd place as all three qualify for the State Tournament. The Knights had a strong day, finishing in 5th place with 115-points, just behind West Liberty with 118-points. Kuemper went 16-16 in matches wrestled with thirteen wins by fall, two major decisions and a decision. Potthoff had a great day, earning a win over the top seed, helping propel her to a championship. She went 3-0 with all three of her wins by fall. She won with a pin at 2:29 in her championship match, sending her to the State Tournament at 155-pounds. Cara Schuette earned 2nd place at 145-pounds, qualifying for State. She went 3-1 with a pair of wins by fall and a major decision. She won by fall in 2:00 in her 2nd place match. South Central Calhoun had a strong day with three wrestlers qualifying for the State Tournament. East Sac had four wrestlers earn at least a win but wasn’t able to qualify anyone for State. The Raiders were 7-12 in matches wrestled with all seven wins coming by fall. Emery Kramer was dominant for South Central Calhoun, winning all three of her matches by fall at 110-pounds.
