East Sac battled hard but a tough 3rd quarter put them down by double digits as they fell on the road on Saturday. Neither team scored for nearly four minutes to start the game. GTRA got on the board first but East Sac scored to end the quarter, down 12-7. They tied the game early in the 2nd quarter but GTRA closed the half strong and led by six at half. The Titans slowly pulled away in the 3rd, outscoring the Raiders 18-8. They led by as many as 19 in the 4th.
Caitlyn Hough of GTRA broke the scoreless drought to open the game as neither team scored until her jumper in the lane with 4:40 left in the 1st quarter. Sarah Bontrager put the Raiders on the board with three minutes left in the quarter, cutting the deficit to 5-2. The Titans stretched their lead to 9-2 but Bontrager hit a three. GTRA responded with a three but Reese Aschinger hit a 17-footer from the left side to end the 1st quarter with East Sac down 12-7. Chloe Bieret drained a three to start the 2nd quarter and Sarah Bontrager tied the game at 12 with a baseline jumper. GTRA answered with a 4-0 run and led 20-14 going to half.
The Titans started the 2nd half with a 4-0 run and led by 10. Sarah Bontrager responded with a pair of free throws and Jordin Carroll scored at the rim to keep the Raiders down eight at 26-18. A Titans 10-2 run pushed their lead to 36-20 and GTRA led 38-22 going to the 4th. Reese Aschinger scored to start the 4th quarter but GTRA went on a 5-0 run, building their largest lead at 43-24. Sarah Bontrager and Jordin Carroll scored down the stretch but the Raiders fell 44-29.
Sarah Bontrager led the Raiders with 12-points along with 4 steals. Scottie Eichhorn had a team high 7 rebounds and was disruptive at the rim on defense, finishing with 2 blocks. Miranda Gerdes added 7 rebounds and Wendie Veit had 6 rebounds. Jordin Carroll had 2 steals and Chloe Beiret had 4 assists.
The loss drops the Raiders to 8-10 overall as they head to Pocahontas Area on Tuesday.
