Newman Catholic At Kuemper Catholic

Newman Catholic 54

Kuemper 49

A cold shooting night snapped Kuemper’s seven game winning streak, as they got as close at 2 in the 4th quarter but weren’t able to complete the comeback. The Knights trailed by double digits in the 2nd half after trailing by twelve at half. They fought back with good defense and strong work on the glass. The Knights forced a lot of turnovers in the 2nd half, and benefited from Newman Catholic struggling from the free throw line. Kuemper had a couple possessions down 45-43 in the 4th quarter but weren’t able to tie the game or take the lead. Newman Catholic hit a few free throws down the stretch and were able to get a couple open looks at the rim against the Kuemper full court pressure. Kuemper pulled within a possession late in the game when Newman Catholic went one of two from the free throw line and Morgan Masching hit a three from the left side. They sealed the win with a pair of free throws with 0:07.4 left. Kuemper outscored Newman Catholic 29-22 in the 2nd half.

Addy Anthofer had a huge game for Kuemper with 14-points and 14 rebounds. She hustled back and got her hands on a lot of passes that would have been easy buckets for Newman Catholic. Elsa Tiefenthaler went over 1,00 career points, scoring her third point of the game in the 2nd quarter on a euro-step move in the lane. She finished with 11-points and 7 rebounds. Charlotte Hackfort 9-points with a couple nice drives to the basket, Kaylie Simons added 7-points, Morgan Masching added 6 rebounds and Alivia Schenkelberg had 5 rebounds.
