Carroll fell in a tough battle with Boone on Tuesday evening. The Tigers came in at 5-9 and had a tough stretch of good competition. The Tigers fell behind early as Boone substituted at almost every break and pressed the length of the floor. The Toreadors knocked down some threes early and led 13-8 after 1. Boone kept it up in the 2nd as the Tigers could not handle the pressure effectively and failed to knock down some shots. The Toreadors jept it rolling in the 4th after a big lead. carroll cut it to 7 and even 4 at one point before the Toreadors hit a 3 and an and-1 to put themselves back up. The Toreadors picked up a 43-33 win at home. The Tigers now sit at 5-10 on the season.

It was a tail of two halves as Gilbert controlled the 1st half, hitting 8-3′ as they built a 35-26 lead at half. Kuemper stormed back in the 2nd half, dominating the 3rd quarter. They outscored the Tigers 27-7 in the 3rd quarter and put the game away in the 4th, hitting free throws, making stops and being patient on offense. Morgan Masching helped spark the Knights with her energy on the defensive end, Mackenzie Yetmar hit two huge 3’s in the 2nd quarter and Elsa Tiefenthaler scored 19-points in the 2nd half, including a three from just inside the halfcourt line to end the 3rd quarter, putting Kuemper up  53-42.

The lead bounced back and forth early with Elsa Tiefenthaler hitting a three to give Kuemper a 3-2 lead. Gilbert responded with a 6-0 run and didn’t trail again until the 3rd quarter. Kaylie Simons kept Kuemper close with a bucket, making it 8-5 but the Tigers responded with a 5-0 run. Kuemper stayed close as Gilbert was racking up high foul numbers. Elsa Tiefenthaler hit six straight free throws, pulling the Knights within 13-11 but Gilbert closed the quarter on a 7-0 run. Alivia Schenkelberg scored with a nice move on the block early in the 2nd quarter and Charlotte Hackfort had a nifty drive to the basket, pulling Kuemper within 21-15. The teams traded 3’s and Gilbert pushed their lead to 35-23. Kuemper hit three free throws to end the half down, 35-26.

The free throw barrage continued in the 3rd for Kuemper as Addy Anthofer had a pair, pulling Kuemper within 35-28. The Knights outshot Gilbert by 16 free throw attempts for the game. They took advantage, going 20-26 from the line. Kaylie Simons hit a three and Elsa Tiefenthaler made a pair of free throws. Addy Anthofer pulled the Knights within 40-35 and Kaylie Simons made a three and Kuemper was down 42-38. A Morgan Masching layup made it a one possession game and Elsa Tiefenthaler drained a three to give Kuemper a 43-42 lead. Mackenzie Yetmar hit a three and Morgan Masching and Elsa Tiefenthaler made back-to-back baskets. Tiefenthaler drilled a three to end the quarter with Kuemper up 53-42. Kaylie Simons scored to start the 4th quarter and Kuemper was up 13-points. Gilbert responded with a 5-0 run and cut the Knights lead to 56-50. Kuemper responded with Elsa Tiefenthaler hitting a three before the Knights sealed the win at the line, making five in the closing minute to win 66-53.

Elsa Tiefenthaler had a team high 28-points with 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Mackenzie Yetmar added 10-points, Kaylie Simons scored 12-points and Addy Anthofer had 8 rebounds. Morgan Masching was outstanding on the defensive end.

The Knights won their 7th in a row, improving to 12-3 as they prepare to host Newman Catholic on Thursday.

Exira-EHK and Paton-Churdan faced off on Tuesday evening. Both teams were looking to pick up a win as the Spartans came in on a 15-game win streak, while the Rockets were looking for a huge upset. The Spartans rolled early, jumping out to a 16-5 lead after the 1st. Exira-EHK topped that in the 2nd with a 20-5 quarter as the Spartans led huge at the break. The Spartans had a 22-point 3rd quarter and a 10-point 4th quarter to pick up a 68-20 win on the road. Alivya Smith led the Rockets with 8 points. Jaelynn Petersen led the Spartans with 17 points.

East Sac picked up a huge win over Manson NW Webster on Tuesday evening. The Raiders came in at 7-8 while taking on the 4-11 Cougars. The Raiders came out fast, jumping out to a 19-5 lead after the 1st quarter. The Raiders would maintain their high-scoring game with a 21-point quarter and a 35-19 lead on their home floor. The Raiders closed out the game well with a 32-point split in half between the two quarters, and they held Manson under 45 for the 72-46 win at home. Reese Aschinger led the Raiders with 25 points while Sarah Bontrager added 17 points and 5 steals.

Coon Rapids-Bayard fell to a good Glidden-Ralston team on Tuesday night in Rolling Valley Conference basketball action. The Crusaders came in at 12-6 and beat Harlan at the Casey’s event center on Monday. The Wildcats came in the top 4 of the conference and were 9-7 on the season. The Crusaders fell behind due to them not being able to get a shot through earl,y and the Wildcats were able to capitalize for a 12-4 lead after the 1st. The 2nd and 3rd were identical scoring-wise, with CRB winning both quarters 11-8 to trail by 2 points heading into the 4th quarter. Both teams battled back and forth in the 4th quarter with shots falling for both. Glidden-Ralston was able to sneak away with a 41-40 win at home. The Crusaders fall to 12-5 on the year, while the Wildcats move to 10-7.

South Central Calhoun fought their way to a victory on Tuesday evening. The Titans had a 4-12 record on the year, similar to the 5-9 record the Wolverines had prior to the matchup. The Wolverines came out fast, and the Titans struck back as they trailed 12-9 after 1. The Titans’ defense was sound as they held the Wolverines to 3 points in the 2nd quarter for a 5 point lead going into the halftime break. The Titans once again would stay sound defensively with an 11-point quarter for the Wolverines as the Titans pick up a 39-36 win on the road.

The Wolves took the lead early and kept it throughout the 1st, heading into the break up 13-9 on their home floor. The Wolves fell behind in the 2nd as Underwood knocked down some shots and went up 4 at the halftime break. The Wolves came out in the 3rd and would fall behind once again, as the Eagles outscored IKM-Manning 21-10 in that 3rd to take a commanding lead. The Wolves would outscore Underwood in the final quarter but fall 56-46. Anna Stangl would crack 1000 points for her career during the game with 25 points.
